I just changed mine at S$140 dollars. My friend got the same brand of MF battery at S$130. We are using Varta Asia Dynamics 70 Amp.

I heard from my mechanic that Yuasa batteries are better

hope it is useful

do you change your battery automatically every year or every 2 years or when the battery is dead

Maintaining a lead battery is easy. You just open the caps and pour in highly purified distilled water. There are level indicators on the battery. One low and one high. Just like oil or PSF reservoir. Just make sure the water is at the high level is good enough.

My new conti car has what looks like a MF battery (Varta) as original equipment, but on closer inspection I can see there are cap openings, just that they are completely flat and covered up by a sticker. Wondering if I should peel the sticker back to access the openings, or wait till the 1 yr battery warranty is over. But dunno if the battery will dry up by then and die just past the warranty period. [:p] I'm thinking if its a normal type battery, with proper care it should last at least 2-3 yrs.

U actually tasted the water. [shocked][sweatdrop]

Anyway it sud b pure water. Maybe your taste buds were not working so well that time. [laugh]

If they add acid, then every time u top-up your battery u r increasing the acid content cos only the water wil evaporate from the battery. The acid won't. [nod]

I have been using normal type of battery & I can use battery water sold in shops or deionised water which is also a pure form of water.

I hope u dont try tasting any of the other fluids meant for your car. [nosebleed]

Some MF batteries have those filler holes to fill the water & acid at the factory. U can try opening them & top-up a little water after the warranty is over but don't overfill cos MF batteries r supposed to b a "closed cycle loop". Well almost.

I changed to Varta from a no brand factory fitted maintenance battery.

My old battery was only 9 months old before it became pregnant and I started to look for a gynae who told me to get it replaced immediately.

So it about 9 months plus now and I changed my stock battery to maintenance free. I will check my battery every year. Heard Varta can last for 3-5 years.

As for Yuasa, I heard that it is a good battery.

I may be wrong. But the feedback I gather is that a lot more people prefer Varta than others.

My Varta failed just at the last month of the warranty (1 year warranty). Got my car towed to the workshop and got a replacement free, towing was free as well. But damn time consuming. [sweatdrop]

See! With the right battery and with something as cheap as water and just a few minutes every two weeks, this wouldn't happen.

Warranty over liao for me in 9 months. My warranty is 20k or 12 months, whichever is the earlier.

It is usual for my type of ride. Some of my friends who own the same ride as me. Battery up the lorry within 1 year or 14 months. Hehe!
