I personally drive a mz3 sp. i would sae the biggest advantage that the mz3 has is its auto transmission with manual mode for a 1.6L and its very stable.

Toyota altis is nt a bad car but i thk the thai made quality is not as good as japan quality. so my decision will be with mz3. I drove a australia made altis in perth and my feeling is the car feels more solid and the engine is slightly responsive.

Hi All,

I need to change my car, cos its a G9 Corolla coming to 5 years soon and paper plus body is close to 40k. I wanted a civic but its just too expensive at 70k (without cash rebate).

Therefore, i narrow my choice to a mazda 3(bright red colour), 59k without rebate OR a toyota altis (black colour)52.5k deluxue package. I dun really like any of the 2 cars but if ido not change, i lose out cos its high yearly depreciation.

I test drove the mazda3, the auto transmission seems very weird. Not smooth or responsive and i thought the engine is damn loud. Is it true or because the salesperson said i drive manual too long so duno how to drive auto???? Plus the FC, everyone says ist very bad, like ard 10km/l only. Is it true?

Can Someone pls advise me which car is better to get?

I tink altis is a better choice, because M3 FC bad and engine under power

BM has clarified that thai made toyotas are not affected.

Don't believe all they said, bend down a take a look...even then whether its pedal issue or not still yet to find out...

if the root was due to computer IC or ECU, then all will be affected...

better be safe than sorry...

all these FC talk... does a 10km/L or 11km/L or 9km/L really make such a big difference? how much u wanna save? if cost savings is all you are after, just go for a korean car... slightly better FC wont save you thousands of dollars for the life of the car use, for sure

mazda3 1.6litre 70%city FC is 10km/l if you drive 2.5k~3k rpm and dont squeeze accelerator to red line

if 70% highway can get 12km/l

but is 10km/l bad? i dont tink so

if u drive big capacity car eg picnic, odyssey or continental bmw, volvo, jaguar, 10km/l is consider very good

if u drive lighter cars eg altis or lancer 1.6, (~100kg lighter than mazda3), naturally u can get 1~2km/l more

but the feeling at highspeed is floating and steering very light for these lightweight 1.6l cars

depend on what u want - good handling good safety good stability or just good FC

Actually it does make a difference...

just did a simple calculation base on FC...

say yearly mileage of 30000KM with 10KM/L and 12KM/L to show how much more petrol you need to complete this 30000KM.

for FC of 10KM/L, you need 3000L of petrol

for FC of 12KM/L, you need only 2500L of petrol...

if that translate into $2/L of petrol, you much you would safe?

its $6000 vs $5000 per year....

one year safe $1000, enuff for insurance coverage alr...
