it's turbo charge car on CVT. This car is still quite new on the market, but if your read more on turbo charge cars, you will notice CVT gearbox is not able to withstand the power thus causing it to spoil in a few years time. Thus there isnt, or may i say totally no CVT gearbox for Japanese Domestic Model(correct me if i'm wrong thanks in advance) This is why Japan do not carry the auto CVT and only CnC carries it. And one more thing to note, mit. gearbox is actually quite sensitive, and it's pretty wellknown in the market that most auto lancer gearbox gives way in 3-4years time.

Though I do not like mitsubishi nor its CVT gearbox, your claim that "it's pretty wellknown in the market that most auto lancer gearbox gives way in 3-4years time." is spoken like a 16 yr old kid. Where are your facts to back your claims?

The few CVT boxes which died that I know of are badly abused by their owners. Either driving all the time with overdrive off in Ds gear, or maintaining constant redline on the CVT for most of their point to point journey, or simply having a 1.4bar TD04 under the bonnet.

If you want to be in the sales trade, a sound strategy is to not shoot your nuts off without knowing the target.

Bro,

firstly, i do propose to you to speak like an adult. This is a discussion forum so do kindly refrain from using some words such as "shoot your nuts".

Anyway i personally drive a lancer and do meet up with other lancer guys from mitsubishi forums. Thru our discussion during meet ups, we found out that mitsubishi CVT gearbox spoils easily after 3-4years base on the old birds experience.

Moreover, Since you did mention "Though I do not like mitsubishi nor its CVT gearbox", you should shut your crap and just give your opinions on cars that your know. The above post you claim makes you sound so hypocritic since your knowledge of mit gearbox is minimal. Moreover not every1 plays with CVT gearbox, only a handful so do not generalised those CVT gearbox spoil is due to "playing"

My knowledge is base on my meet ups with the forumers in mit club, and here i am sharing the experience i have with interested bros. So i have no idea how can some1 who knows nothing about mit to leave such comments. It's so absurd! And bro, i do not rely sales on forums only so maybe you should use brain to think before giving any baseless claims on others.

Thanks and do hope you can wake up from your childish one-sided ideas

hi bro, I believe what bro sturtles is trying to say that you shouldn't make harsh

comments like "most auto lancer gearbox gives way in 3-4 years." This bold word would

mean that at least 75% of the total lancer on the road experienced that which I believe isnt the case.

I drove a GDI lancer for 4 years and it didnt give me any problem then.

I believe there are people out there who experience little or no problem with their CVT too.

With the sample size that you have got from Mitsubishi club might not be able to back up

your statement by using that bold word.

CVT might have its flaws, but definitely not as bad as what you have mentioned. nod.gif

Just 2 cents worth of thoughts

Erm... lots of Audis running around turbocharged with cvt gearboxes [rolleyes]

Besides, why would Mitsubishi build a car with a gearbox that cannot withstand the car's own power? It would be silly of them to see customers returning every other month asking for their gearbox to be repaired/replaced.

I believe if you don't muck around with the power of the car [rolleyes] the gearbox will do just fine [;)]

my bad then. But generally speaking, it is really true that CVT gearbox cant withstand the turbo charge engine. Hmmm... We'll see how it goes in few years time yea?

Anyway it to our own views and i definitely do hope CVT gearbox will not spoil easily as i have mention i myself personally drive a lancer too [;)]

No problem. I guess you are just too eager to share your bad experience with the

people here hence used a stronger word. [;)]

Hopefully the new INVECS-III 6-speed CVT gearbox will be able to

withstand this turbo engine, thus changing people perception of CVT gearbox thereafter. [:)]

Aiyah... Give him a break lah [flowerface] He's just parking there for photo shoot so that some of the bros here can see it in real life than studio shoots or PS-perfect pictures... [drivingcar]

Joking lah....relax.

We don't want to end up like the other 2 guys here fighting over durability of CVT gear box.

My take on the issue is that if the chief designer of the car could agree to put a CVT into the turbo charge engine, then is should be ok. Off course if someone buys that car (which I understand is running on a 0.4 bar boost -- on stock) and tune it to a higher boost, then the CVT life might be threaten.

let's hope so yea?

My neighbour bought one CVR auto from CnC when the price was 64500 so we'll see how it goes in few years time :)

Anyway we are just discussing not quarreling :)

thumbsup.gifGood explanations.

CPT, CVR & LancerTurbo also on auto-gearbox... but CPT & CVR equipped with 6-spd CVT which I find that it's sufficient to bring the car to higher speed faster.

Reliablility of the any gearbox lies on the owner...take care and maintain it.

I quite like CVR from C&C but they only have CVT which I'm currently on this gearbox on my lancer... tot of getting a manual one to get the feel. hee hee...

dun wish to get from PI cos of certain reasons... hee heheknife.gif

waiting for the price of CVR to drop now.. but think would get the CVT instead.

guess i am too lazy for manual now. and CVT has lower rpm at higher speed e.g.@ 100km/hr - ~2Krpm. So suits my driving style as i like to cruise at ard 100-110km/h.

Might have better FC with CVT. [gossip]

Is good to get manual if you really wan to chiong the car. haha..

Anyway, is also advisable to wait for CnC to launch their CVR manual first.

Compare their package with those PIs. Might get a better deal then. [flowerface]

Not yet. still contemplating whether to get the ride or not. [:/]

Quite off my budget as I want to save a sum some money before hitting 30.

But really love the ride. Really tempted especially when you read how fun

those guys are having now with their CVR. [bigcry]

See how it goes ba.. Hopefully the price will drop and at the same

time find ways to increase my income.

So now, just 'enjoy' other people experiences on this car first lo. [laugh]

laugh.gif hmm... me also contemplating too btw manual & CVT but also consider the boot-space and no.of seaters.

hee hee... .save some money b4 30 for marriage preparations?

Yes it's realli a nifty fun ride... 4G15 with Turbo. 154bhp... quite remarkable.

hee hee... price won't drop significantly but COE gonna to be lesser this year after the gov. budget.
