Okie dudes, my first time posting here. I've just got myself a new black baby from toyota. Firstly I simply have no idea how to take care of its exterior [:/] as the last car i got was a second hand lancer in melb. Oh yeah btw I'm interested in getting a body kit for my corolla baby too ..you know fog lights and spoiler and etc. Borneo don't handle that anymore [bigcry] so any recco? Thanks a zillion man [thumbsup] before i forget..i heard from my pals that we shouldnt start off with the high end kinda petrol meaning Caltex plax petrol or V power those kinda petrol cause in years to come..the car is too spoilt for anything else. Is it advisable to keep changing the 'brand' of petrol ? like kiosk hopper like that first Mobil then Shell then Caltex... [confused]

Hi Sng28,

Welcome to MCF ! Do enjoy your stay here and come along for our weekly meetups. More info in our MEETUPS folder. nod.gif

IMHO, black is a very nice colour. nod.gif Once they've been polished, you'll get a mirror finish. thumbsup.gif However, you do need to take extra care because fine scratches, water spots, and dirt are easily seen. sweatdrop.gif

To give you an idea of what you can do to wash/wax/polish your car...do take a look in our DETAILING folder. nod.gif Threads to look out for in this folder are the 'Car Washing' thread, and types of polish/waxes like 'Zaino', 'Klasse', 'Hi-Glaze88', 'Autoglymn', 'Meguairs', '3M'. If you are thinking of sending your car to a grooming centre, you can look out for keywords like 'Groomworks', 'Cazcomp', and 'Autoglymn'. wink.gif

As to which polish/wax to use, it is up to personal preference, I have alraedy mentioned the popular ones that we use...for Klasse..it is only available overseas, so we'll have to make a bulk purchase and have it shipped back. For Zaino, info and ordering is available at the Cazcomp web site, its local. Hi-Glaze88 and 3M Liquid Wax is available locally at most petrol stations and supermarts like Giant, Carrefour, and also in car accessory shops.

For grooming centres: Autoglymn use Autoglymn only [obviously], Groomworks uses Meguairs, Autoglymn and Zaino, and Cazcomp uses Zaino.

Generally, try not to apply any polish/wax on your car paintwork for at least 2 weeks after it has been sprayed with a new coat of paint, this is to allow the paint to cure and bond itself to the car body. My guess is that by the time you collect your car...it would have been past that duration, so you can go ahead and polish the car. nod.gif

Here are some threads which you may find useful [you can click on the titles and they will open in another window for you to browse through]:

2003 Klasse Group Buy

3M Liquid Wax

Klasse or Zaino

Feedback on Hi-Glaze88

Car Washing

More stuff is in the DETAILING folder like I said.

For bodykits, our members will be contributing with their replies soon. nod.gif

Hope this helps. nod.gif

Cheers tongue.gif

Neutral Newbie

Hi,

Welcome to MCF,

DO join us for our weekly meetup...thumbsup.gif

You can check with COOL who is the Toyota Guru here with regards to anything Toyota...thumbsup.gif

It is alright to use any fuel so long within the recommended RON rating but best is to stick to one because different brands got their different formula and ratio of detergent and additive inside which might leave some varnish inside the engine......thumbsup.gif

Hi Sng28,

Apparently I answered your post before you edited it and added the 2nd part so I must have missed it. sweatdrop.gif

Once you have registered yourself with MCF and started posting, you are officially a member of MCF ! wink.gif So welcome to MCF ! thumbsup.gif

Anyway, with regards to petrol, like what Saaber said, try and stick to one petrol station company [or two at the most] if possible as there are usually different derivatives and mixtures in their petrol. Like-wise, for eg, if you are using Shell, and your car manual recommends that you use at least RON98 petrol, then you can pump Super98, and maybe V-Power once in a while to clean up the system [coz of its detergent qualities]. nod.gif

For Toyota bodykits etc, you can PM [Private Message] Cool about about that and he'll help you in whatever way he can.wink.gif

If you click on the STATISTICS link on the left hand side of the main MCF page, you will also see the male/female ratio....I think its about 4% right now. To us, although it would be good to have a more equal ratio, it is of not much significant consequence as what is more important is that everyone has an interest in cars and enjoy the company we have here. nod.gif

Everyone has to start somewhere, so take your time to read through our various folders and you build up your knowledge. Anything else you are not sure about, just ask by posting a message and we'll point you in the direction. wink.gif

Hope I did not leave anything out. Cheers tongue.gif
