I bought a Citreon 2.0 1998 Feb

same COE $50

drive for 7 month

drive to KL and penang

but change one riadator

then alternator fail I scarp the car

if the alternator don't fail

I might drive until COE end

Is it a Xantia or XM? If XM, scrap is a pity as it is one of the best Citroen ever made.

Saab is a very good car if you have the money to maintain and run it.

Never have the ability to own one but heard from a subordinate that the fuel consumption is terrible. [sweatdrop]

Neutral Newbie

The E39 (1996 - 2003) is one of the best 5 series made by BMW. The best part of the car is the fail-safe 6 cylinder engine - the 520i developing 150bhp. The engine will hit the benchmarks 200k,400k mileage easily. Open up the throttle on the NS highway, you will realise that the this 6-cylinder engine block is one of the best money can buy. Steering is superb due to it 50-50 weight distribution and is one of the furst few cars during that era to have aluminium suppension components.

I in fact owned two, a 1997 528i (193 bnp) and a 2000 523i (184 bhp). On a relative basis, the 528i engine was as efficient as the 520i engine. One of the best thing I like about the engine block is the ability to mod. Put in a supercharger - like many have done and the car going to fly. Plenty of after market parts on suspension, kits etc. Fuel pump fails at about 120k and the car needs new timing belts at 150k. Transmission at about 160k km. Other than all that - ne major problems.

this 520 is kinda under-powered for such a heavy car. used to sit in my boss's 520, the car feels lethargic when pushed hard (even in tiptronic mode) and overcome the inertia. the engine revs smoothly but has little urge. however it feels very stable and very well composed especially in higways.

If you buy this car, PM me I tell you who to go to maintain your Saab...

Owner also drives a Saab and he knows Saab inside out....he just retired his Saab 900 only...which was a blast to drive !! He was planning a drive all the way to Sweden....then drop the car off at Saab factory then fly back...didn't take off cos insurance and customs glitches...if not it would be one hellva of drive !!

Upgrade the turbo and see if it goes or not lor.

Old school Saab easier to mod...newer Saab too smart liao...very tough to extract ponies from them unless go the proper way ask the agent to mod for you. (which they have power up packages...and best of all...warranty covers them as well.)
