Echelon 3rd Gear January 12, 2007 Author Share January 12, 2007 Hey, upsizing rims bro..... good choice, the 18"? Any recommendations for brakes? Btw, where did you purchase your rain wipers, the stock one is a let-down, it was pouring last night and it did a terrible job and wiping!!
Fisheye Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Tell me about it ...my aero wipers are not too good too...but I'm not sure if its the wipers or something got stained on the windscreen. thinking of trying this Glo product for treating the windscreen before changing out the wipers. maybe going down to XinZhong and checkout the price of OEM aero wipers. Brakes?? Brembos or Tarox or Stoptechs...looking around but priceing is really steep at around $3.5K
Echelon 3rd Gear January 12, 2007 Author Share January 12, 2007 My bro was advising me to get second hand brakes and brand new pads to save cost. Brembos are top range....
Decksurgeon Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 IMHO Alcon brakes are top of the range. brembo is good. and stoptech and MTM and many other calipers are made by brembo anyway as OEM supplier.
Conned Clutched January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 (edited) yep! ALCON are tops now..with the new POTHOLEs design..even the WRC cars are using them. Wish I could trade my Brembos for them. Free tdy bro?..no "weird HOOOOOOOOO !!! " patients?.. Edited January 12, 2007 by Conned
Putter Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Brembo very good liao. But certainly those with potholes design looks even better.
Conned Clutched January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 (edited) Actually, I prefer slotted. But read that potholes offer better braking resistence. X -drilled & slotted looks damn good but not as effective, esp in high temp/continous usage. They lose their thermal efficiency more, in fact!some may even crack but then again.brakes are not about looks..its abt efficiency. your brakes are only as good as ur vaccum lines n skills.More important are the materials n design of the rotors, the vanes design, cooling duct, the thickness..etc Rim sizes are not as considerable as ET when u choosing BBK. Tashi Clutched January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 hi bro Like I said, Revo has various timing modes for SPS 2 and 3. So if u want to run Ron 95, then it must be timing "0". Timing "5" is meant for Ron 98, according to Revo. If you went for the standard SPS 1, then it should be Ron 98 also (since there won't be Ron specific settings under SPS 1). Some other ECU flashing vendors may only have performance or stock modes (which means you may have to use Ron 98). But for Revo, go for SPS 2 and above, and you can specify Ron 95. bless tashi
Putter Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Anyway, Huan switch my Boost to 6 and Timing to 3 and asked me to try. If still have issue, I will switch to 98. If still have issue, then dunno what to do liao as I had changed up the coil pack, spark plug. Alex said that my grounding is too much (12 points). He said should remove them as Superb by itself is already heavily grounded. May be he is right. Will do 1 at a time and let you guys know.
Fisheye Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Hi Doc, Any idea what's the price of a 4 pot with those c-cup slots rotors from Alcon? For that matter, any idea who's bringing in Alcon??
Beanoyip Turbocharged January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 I'm quite concern with the FC of my car now, full tank getting abt 420km mileage. 57l used to be exact. Thats about 7.3km/l? Horrendous i must say. I wonder if there's anything wrong with the chipping or its just the everyday driving conditions i'm in.
Putter Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Wow...that is really quite abit. Do you ramp often? % of highway to city? I find this car highway cruizing consume very much less petrol than Camry 2lit but city it drinks quite a bit.
Beanoyip Turbocharged January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 Ya i'm almost 80% city driving? Not that i drive in the city, but from my house to work and back always jam. Avg speed 40-50km/h. Many stop starts...
Putter Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 (edited) Then may be that is the thing. If u observe the real time meter on the fuel consumption, it really drinks alot from stationary. So if you have frequent stops on city driving, I guess that will be the mileage you will be getting. But if you drive on highway, the real time FC can hover around 6-7lit/100km. As on City, it will be easily >15lit/100km, which is easily double that of highway. Edited January 12, 2007 by Putter
Decksurgeon Neutral Newbie January 12, 2007 Share January 12, 2007 try collin of Eurohaus. basically there is no Alcon dealer here as far as i know. Alcon also dont sell ready made kits for a car, they sell to the tuners who in turn make a kit for your specific car. for example Audi A4 kits are made by STaSIS Engineering using a 4pot+Alcon half moon discs. about USD$3k for the 14inch kit. Alcon are different from the rest fo the brake makers. usually other brands will have a commercial/street product and a track/race use only product line for 2 different markets. Alcon just make the track/race stuff period. explains the price differential also compared to the competition. anyway the guy that set up Alcon used to work for Automotive Products (AP racing) Group for >10 years before malking the switch to set up a company of his own known today as Alcon.
