Which to improve first?

intend to install these on my 3-mth old stock lancer (auto):

1. drop-in air-filter

2. performance spark plugs + cables

3. voltage stabilizer

 

can someone recommend a reliable workshop? also, which order should i go with if i'm not installing them at one go (e.g. 1. drop in, follow by 3. stablizer, then 2. spark plugs).

Tink of safety mods first. Consider yr ride handling performance, rather than power mods.

No offence to you, but personally, I find that it is better to buy the normal spark plugs at S$4 each and change them annually rather than buying the irridum performance ones at $20 each and changing them at a longer interval... reason being there will be wear and tear for eth performance plugs and they may not perform at optimum level once they reach 1/2 their lifespan.

You are not driving a performance car. Or even an attempt at it. So those 3 mods you are mentioning are completely useless.

 

At best the K&N drop in filter makes sense because you will never have to replace it. so you save on replacing the air filter every 20K.

 

Save your $$$ on the other 2.

i suggest u do a

1. CAI with close pot, that won't affect FC much.

2. performance plugs do help.

3. get power pass rather than VS

 

to some maybe these things won't work, maybe to them the performance gain is too marginal. to others maybe it'll do wonders.

u need to do trial and errors in order to find out what suits your needs.

the only reason why i'm going for the performance mods is that i find the pickup for lancer too sluggish. i'm not using my lancer to cheong, i just want it to pickup effortlessly and smoothly.

 

you mentioned K&N drop-in filter, any experience with 'simota sports drop-in filter'?

quite interesting. most of the replies seemed to favor changing to performance spark-plugs. may i know if you are using any VS - if so, can you feel the difference after installing it?

i don't see myself doing any sharp-cornering at high speed any time soon. i guess i have to give the strut bar a pass.

Lancer is sluggish. You can do mods to it but the improvement is very small.

 

 

Save the money for petrol and ERP charges.

U nvr know when u encounter a cornering situation or taking on a bend on a road at high speeds. Call it an emergency or urgent situation. When tat happens, u won't regret hving stiffer suspension supported by struts.

 

If u r a seasoned driver n know yr ride well enuf, u may say tat throttle response is sluggish. Then focus on that aspect. Find out if the ECU can respond faster than, if not, then the lag is simply going to be prevent u from coming out from an emergency situation above safely.

 

Otherwise when u take bends in a fast speed, u'd appreciate the stability - less body flexing, n slightly lesser body roll, tighter steering, dun feel the ride going out of control. Again u never know when u need it, but u'd appreciate hving it everyday w a more stable ride.
