Hi guys,

i just made an observation for my ride.

when i crank up my car and just start it, the idling RPM is ard 1000 rpm. then after a min, the rpm starts to drop to below 1000, to around 800, and it will fluctuate up and down,

at lower rpms, my car will seem to like "rattle" a bit.

is this normal? is there anyway to slightly increase my idling speed to maybe 1k rpm constant?

i'm an engine goondu, so hope u guys can advise me.

cheers

Neutral Newbie

Depending on your car, and if it's a new car, usually lightly lower than 1,000 rpm. For an old car, you may want to tune it a bit higher to avoid stalling but you'll be wasting petrol.

how do i go about 'tuning' the idling speed?

just the other day at a carpark, saw this 2 guys trying to 'self adjust' the idling speed by adjusting the cable at the engine bay there.

any recommendations?

What car are you driving? if you can take a pic of the engine bay, i can point out where the idle control valve is.

Your engine speeds sound about right and everything sounds relatively normal. the normal temp speed can be slightly lower if you wish though.
