Neutral Newbie

mitgalant isn't kidding about the FC of AirTrek-R, very high but then again 6km/l is a bit drastic, best case scenario you will get 8-9km. 10km would be impossible

Since it's turbo, it's a lot more powerful then both the CRV and RAV4, price wise, you could get a 1-2yr old 2nd hand for about 60k-70k, making it cheaper then both CRV and RAV4 and more enjoyable to drive (more power?)

but then again it wouldn't have that "new car" smell... [rolleyes]

Let me give a break down of these 2 cars

Rav4 from BM

-made in thailand

-engine made in china

-4 Wd = fuel consumption higher

No need to quarrel regarding this as my future sis-in-law is in BM

Rav4 from PI

-JDM

-2 WD fuel consumption lesser

-however naked but you can mix and match accessories or discuss for a package that will satisfy your budget

Honda CRV from KM

-export model from Japan

-Spare parts from thailand

-2 option 2L(underpower) and 2.4L

-Some parts are OEM

-4 WD = more fuel consumption

-Cost 95k-98k for 2.4L includes cruise control, electric chair, skyroof and leather seats

No need argue much since my sis-in-law bf works in KM

Honda CRV from PI

-JDM

-2WD = fuel consumption lesser

-cost around 88k.

-3k for addtional of skyroof and 800 for leather seats

-cruise control and electric chair not necessary in singapore.

My opinion is CRV from PI, however look for a reputable PI and not those that quote a low price with all freebies. No such things as freebie or low price in PI market. There's always hidden cost and gimmicks such as in-house insurance of 7k or COE top up etc. by these idotic PIs on the ground floor of AML thus causing PIs reputation to drastically fall.

check my post regarding PIs and BM and KM cars

Care to share which PI is carrying in the CRV 2.0 litre 2WD version?

Thank you.

No PI carries a 2.0L CRV as Japan do not have such domestic model. Reason is because a CRV 2.0L is underpowered thus Japan only use the 2.4L as a domestic model. 2.0L CRV can only be found in KM as it's a export model from Japan

bros,

i need some advise which suv to go for... whether to purchase from authorise dealer or PI.

thanks [sunny][sunny][sunny][sunny][sunny][sunny]

The old CRV drive is quite stiff, thus disappointd with it. The new one look better inside but weird front bumper. Not aure about Rav4 drive.

Turbocharged

as i just got it last week, the FC is not accurate. currently going at about 8-9KM/L but i heard that after first 1000km change oil, the FC will improve to 9-10KM/L. remember its 6 speed CVT selectable 2/4WD, so FC definitely better than those with turbos

Turbocharged
how's the FC & boot space?

[sunny][sunny]

FC - check post above.

boot space - very bigger. I went Ikea on Monday and bought 2 cabinets 1.5m long. manage to dump it inside. best thing is the foldable tailgate, if not i will have trouble loading up the 40+kg cabinets.

i think the forester 2.5XT will eat the airtrek turbo alive... [sly]

i know the 0-100 for 2.5XT is 7.8s, how does the airtrek perform?

i think ashley 1108 has a very good and structured argument and comparison ! good post . all forumers should try to have a balanced review like that ! Good job ! [thumbsup]

i also agree . Good PI to get your own CRV. if budget lower and need to get AD, perhaps the Suzuki Gran Vitara from champion is a option. my fren just bought one. [flowerface]
