Carforun Neutral Newbie March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 Tachometer is more effective for Manual driving where you can enjoy seeing the red pointer moving up and down when you accelerate. But if you are driving the Auto version of Axio, you'll enjoy the very smooth driving due to the advantage of Super-CVTI transmission where you can't feel any jerking effect in transmission at all. So the driver really don't bother about looking at the tachometer or whether it's existing or not at all. You may want to open your options and consider other brand of performance car in Manual version than Axio because most of them buy Toyota Corolla Axio in Auto version and is for enjoying smooth driving than Chiong to see the performance. Not all the models suits everyone as everyone is unique.

Elfenstar 3rd Gear March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 Its still the older version. Always been around as the corolla wagon. My housemate is collecting his next week (company car).
Panalogic Neutral Newbie March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 yeah i agree with you... it's just that sometimes, it has become so common that people see it as a standard on the dashboard. Honestly speaking, it makes no sense for an auto to have it. For engine anomalies, if it revs too much, the driver can actually hear it or feel it if he drives it enough. I am driving the axio now and i concentrate more on the speed i am going at cos the accelerator is sometimes a bit too responsive. I used to drive my dad's merc and i don't think i ever looked at the tacho for more than a sec. Anyway, i don't see the need to pull my own car's engine till that extent. Of course unless i'm driving a rented car Another thing i wish to point out is, i feel that the computer chip in the car takes note of how i drive, if i drive more agressively, even slight taps will have me more power compared to when i'm driving and relaxing on my way home. I don't know if its me or the car? Does anyone share my views? My only concern is that the suspension is a bit too soft... But i will rectify that once the warranty is over Yeah and maybe some aftermarket brake kits too? To sum it up, i look forward to driving it everytime i sit in my car Also, if some of you are interested, i think there's an export version from toyota(BM) but we might have to wait another year or so. It is slightly bigger like maybe a few mm here and there and the engine is a bit more powerful too. I read about it before and fortunately, the interior's exactly the same, just that the lights are a bit diff. But in my opinion, i don't think it looks as good as the JDM axio (it's already the top seller in Jap ). On the contrary, it looks more like those european wannabe kind of luxury car. Also, it comes with 15" rims as a standard and there's a 1.6 and 1.8 version. But of course FC is higher. IMO, unless the price is much cheaper, i don't think ppl will pay for it. A 1.6 for more that 60k? Hmm... But maybe people have different tastes, i am the sort who would go for a Lexus over a typical e class Merc and i hate thai made cars which costs as much as normal cars in their class. And i abhor when my male friends get a hatchback. Yucks. European manufacturers also seldom have such variants... but i wonder why it's so popular here. Space? that already fails. Looks? i decline to comment Safety? But i strongly recommend the stock reverse cam with touch screen. It really looks a lot better and really brings out the 'luxury-ness' of the car. I have seen that 6.3" LCD set. Trust me, the user interface is fugly. Also, the original stock comes with some kind of a audio tuner where you can control the bass and the position of the sound. Might be good for those who are particular with the sound system. But of course, the stock speakers sound like any other stock ones. Definitely not as good as those Bose ones and maybe a tad lower than those kenwood or sony speakers. But well, that ain't too impt i surmise for such a car. Panalogic Neutral Newbie March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 My frend booked a Axio @$54988 from Rica***.4 bids guarenteed COE too. 2 bids have passed and since his car is not here yet so probably he will have to wait till end April. His price include Leather Seats, Additional locally fitted alarm, 15 inches rims, Original Jap set radio with reverse camera , Solar Film and lastly reverse sensors too. BTW, beware of this thingy that PIs use to con us. Guaranteed you get your COE and guaranteed COE bid at $X amount is 2 things altogether. In summation, if you pay a low price such as say 52k and assuming you take no loan for simplicity's sake. They can also say guaranteed COE but at the amt of 8k which will not enable you to have your car. Do you think they will really absorb the price if COE jumps to 20K? I hope your friend has got the former scenario compared to the latter or else, he's gonna be a pissed customer like me initially. Damn.. to think of it it really sucks... lucky i was duly compensated
Godfinger Neutral Newbie March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 No. He is taking 7yrs loan at 2.85% $54988 is the net selling price w/o cash rebate.
Toyo 1st Gear March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 normal RPM when idling is 750. if it goes higher then its time for a check. u r wasting unnecessary fuel if idling rpm is too high
Godfinger Neutral Newbie March 23, 2007 Share March 23, 2007 (edited) I am just as careful as the rest of them out there. But since my fren is going to Ric**** which btw is one of the big PIs out there so I am comfortable that he will get his car w/o top-ups. This Particular PI only bring in Toyota Models and even have his own workshop behind the showroom. Even have a Customer lounge while waiting for servicing. ALl these convince me that his choice is right. ( I am not saying the other PIs are no good or what but this Particular one make both of us feel good and comfortable after both of us have travel from East to West and North and finally go for RiC*****) Let me inform all again once his COE is secured ok?
