Some advise needed - should I dump SPC?

i have 21% discount with my card .. another 3% discount for dbs card usage

Wrong lah..can use only SPC or SAFRA not both.

I used to pump Caltex but CCK dont have leh....latest addition is Shell. I agree Caltec has more value. My consideration is also wanting to concentrate on one CC to max CC points too...

Nearest Caltex at CCK is at Woodland Road, cross the railway track (stagmont ring rd) at CCK north 5/6.

I believe at the end of the day, the amount tat one pays for the the petrol will be the same provided he used certain cards in certain petrol kiosk.

 

 

SPC will give certain discount percentage if u top > xxx amt per mth while the other will give points which itself will transfer to x amount of discount (%). This can be considered as loyalty discount

 

Hence the amount of money we need to pay for x litres of petrol will be the same if we factor in loyalty discount.

 

The next round of discount will be from the credit companies itself. Some will give rebate while some give instant discount. Highest figure is 5% which is given by Citibank Dividend Card but it is in the form of "rebate" that is future money.

 

So use the correct credit card at the appropriate petrol station for the same grade and amount of petrol pumped, the bill will not deviate heaven and earth.

 

FACT :

1) no company in Spore will sell their petrol cheaper than its rival ( factoring in points or site rebate/discount)

2) No credit company will give more discount percentage than its rival.

but SPC petrol is slightly cheaper as the discount amount is more. only thing no loyalty points. but i was wondering the loyalty programme is worth it a not ?

i would never pump caltex if i knew the person queing up next to me using HSBC and getting a better discount than me -- makes u feel awful that u are paying 5% more if u dont have that CC.

True. it is the same at the end of the day. but i still prefer SPC because it is seldom crowded

1 thing annoying abt SPC is that the discount you enjoy is dependant on previous mth's spending. in Feb, caltex gave out $3 discount coupon which gave me better discounts if used with HSBC credit card than SPC with citibank plat dividend. so in feb, i have only topped up with SPC once which means in March, my SPC loyalty discount will be very low.

 

and i think a lot of people use citibank platinum dividend which gives 5% rebate in terms of divdend dollars which is sent to the card owner once $50 or more of dividend dollars is accumulated. with HSBC, you enjoy the 5% discount immediately without having to wait for divdend dollars cheque to be sent to you. and if i'm not wrong, citibank's 5% rebate is calculated after the petrol kiosk's discount has been calculated so the discount is actually less than 5%.

SPC gives site plus some other discount in their special loyalty programe which will amt to abt xx % from the pump retail price.

Other gives site discount + loyalty points (which is the same as a few percentage points).

 

So if we add up these 2 components from SPC and the others ( Shell, Mobil, Caltex), the net amt we need to pay to this companies should be the same for the same qty and same grade of petrol purchased.

 

The next round of discount will be by the credit card company or some other clubs or association for the appropriate petrol company.

tat's why i used SAFRA card at SPC. they gave the max 8% disc in Feb regardless of the amt u spent.
