btw, anyone driving old vios here?

I drove my friend's old vios on a sunny day. After abt 30 mins of driving & parking the car, I do feel tinge of static electricity on car door body.

I was taken aback as I had not experienced it before on any other car.

Has it got anything to do with car paint?

 

Yo bro, is ur frenz ride fabric seat? As far as I know, if driving with fabric material seat will cause static to ur body when rubbing ur cloth with the fabric seat. Thus when getting out of the car and touch the door, u will get an electric static shock. I have this problem with all my previous 4 cars with fabric seat. I blame it on the ICE installer as I tot they did not install the door speaker properly. Now my new Vios is leather seat and i dun have such issue.

Anyone has seated inside both Axio and new vios at the rear seats? On the road I always see that the Axio is much wider than the new vios, but on spec, vios is 5mm wider than axio. Is it eye deception? If 3 adults seating behind, is new vios be more squeezy, or both cars will feel the same?

hmm on paper, vios is wider and axio is longer.. but u must take into consideration that the hood of vios is shorter.

Hi, sorry I have not sat in an Axio so I can't comment. Axio and cars like sunny (both with 1695 mm width) do indeed look wider externally than vios. Even though on paper the difference in width is merely 0.5 cm, Vios does look narrower. Also, for instance, the width of Latio is also listed as 1695 mm (same as Axio and sunny) but my TC SE told me that Latio interior width is few cm narrower than sunny. No wonder Latio does look narrower (in terms of width) than the rest....

Previous Vios, the latter batch comes with galvanised bottom.

So the road noise was poorer.

 

In new Vios, does it come with galvanised body too?

 

IMO this is to cut production cost.

 

Are you sure galvanise helps to reduce road noise?

 

Galvanised body prevent rust.

Similar to tuff coat fuction.

Think its because its a decent car at that price with pretty good power and fuel consumption. I've been driving it for about 7 months and so far so good. Fuel consumption is about 15km/l...

 

Is the fuel comsumption for a manual or auto?

my fc range between 10.5 to 11.5 auto 100% city driving with abit of jam here n there.

 

If i go 30% highway, the best I got out of it was 13.5km/L

Also, for old vios, I notice a weird unpleasant smell from air-con for abt few minutes after I start engine. I compared with other cars which did not put perfume as well, they did not have this smell.

IMHO, a wider car externally does not mean interior will also be wider internally.

I did not sit in axio before, but IMHO, I feel 3 at the back for typical 1.5/1.6 sedan somehow still feel squeezy. Even for spacious cars like latio, they are only spacious in legroom but not shoulder/hip room.

this really depends on individual... it feels ok to me.. the engine is noisy @ high rpm but sticking within 2-3k its ok.. also fuel saving within that range

Well, depends what car you compared with. My previous car is Nissan Sunny. Vios has better pick up. Overall ride is comfortable and easy to drive. FC is also quite good. Rear legroom is good due to the curve-in design of front seats and flat floor. Minus points are width wise and headroom is below average. Road noise and engine noise quite intrusive into the cabin. Steering is a bit too light. BM bodykit depends on one's taste. But with free upgrade to bodykit and leather personally I feel is not too bad.

 

But to me Lancer EX has more presence due to its size. I read from some forums that Lancer EX 1.5 FC can fetch 12km/lit. I think that's very good considering the car weighs more than 200kg than new vios. I am not sure even new Altis can average 12km/lit.

 

I am happy with my ride. I chose vios over lancer due to budget and better rear legroom and pickup.
