COE Supply Drop!!!

Was having dinner with some of my friends from various AD, was told new COE supply drop!

 

Cat A quota less about 1000-1100 per month;

Cat B quota less around 300/month ;

Cat C & E quota less about 400/month!

COE Quota For Quota Year 2007 (QY07)

 

As announced by Minister for Transport, Mr Raymond Lim, the annual quota of Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) for Quota Year 2007 (for the period May 2007 to April 2008) will be 127,021. Details of the quota for each vehicle category are at Annex A. Bidding under this quota will start with the April 2007 First Open Bidding Exercise.

The vehicle quota for QY07 consists of the following components:

• 3% vehicle growth based on the vehicle population as at 31 December 2006;

• Replacement COEs for vehicles expected to be de-registered between January and December 2007; and

• An adjustment component for any over/under-estimation of vehicle de-registration in previous years.

In making the adjustments for any over/under-estimation of vehicle de-registration in the year 2006, LTA has factored in the revisions that were made during the mid-quota year review conducted in October 2006.

LTA will announce the COE quota available for the April 2007 first open bidding exercise following the last bidding exercise of the Quota Year 2006 in March 2007.

how u derived at that figure ? when i checked the website, the COE quota didnt drop as much as your figures show ???

looks like the only place the coe is going is up - especially when there are 2000+ people waiting for their coes for the next round

Fewer COEs from May onwards

127,021 COEs available for May 2007 to April 2008, compared with 139,647 the previous year.

 

 

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) today released details of the number of Certificates Of Entitlement (COEs) to be released for the Quota Year '07 (QY07), from May 2007 to April 2008.

 

A total of 127,021 COEs will be made available, compared to 139,647 COEs for the same period last year.

 

According to LTA spokesperson, Naleeza Ebrahim, the annual COE quota is calculated based on "the vehicle growth component, the expected de-registrations of vehicles in the year, and the adjustment component for any over/under-projection of vehicle de-registrations in earlier years."

 

Despite the smaller COE quota, Singapore's vehicle population looks set to grow by 3 per cent or approximately 23,000 vehicles, according to LTA's forecast of 86,000 vehicles to be deregistered for QY07. The total number of vehicles as at 31 December 2006, stands at 778,257.

 

An additional 8,520 COEs had been added to the last year's quota during a mid-quota year review, meaning that the original number set at the start of QY '06 was 131,127, which is still higher than this year's quota.

 

Miss Ebrahim explained to AsiaOne Motoring that the lower number of COEs for QY07 compared to that originally announced for QY 06 was "due mainly to a lower number of adjustment COEs introduced for QY07."

 

The largest drop in number of COEs was for the popular Category A cars (1600cc and below) and taxis. 51,803 Cat A COEs will be available over the course of the next Quota Year, almost 7,000 fewer than the previous year.

Cat A around 4136/mth so each round 2068

Cat B around 2250/mth so each round 1125

 

This will be the quota until Nov then revise

 

So cat A is is 150 less / rnd as compared to last yr same period (~7% less)

Cat b is 25 more / rnd (~1% more)

it really depends on whether demand stays the same cos with all the new cars around not many will be in a comfortable position to make a change

 

if demands drops in tandem with supply we'll expect things to stay more or less the same

 

if demand goes up then siao liao, coe may even hit 20k

i think it is the collective interest of ADs to see the coe remain at a low level cos at higher levels their cars will not move as quickly

 

i suspect the last min coe bidding by the ADs are a collective attempt to keep the coe price manageable

 

we wouldnt want the coe to reach the peak prices of 100k as seen before (i seriously doubt this would ever happen again)

I think with this piece of news people will be force to make a move liao. COE will only go up perhaps reaching 20k range by end of the end.
