COE Supply Drop!!!

doesn't seem like a significant drop to me, plus the 9K coe, pre-CNY, and 5-6K COE crowd have all booked/gotten their rides... i don't see a mad-rush for cars for the coming months. therefore, the drop in quota would have minimal impact.

I am confident because this round there is an overflow of 2600+ bidders into the next round. Plus all the kan chong spider rushing in to book a car, really hard to see it drop. I already lose so much to the garment [lipsrsealed] , no harm losing more, haha [laugh]

Read the other guys' posts. Prices will likely tumble. You can say not this round and spill over demand/ backlog, but after the backlog? Prices still tumble. Reality is painful lah, you don't want the prices to fall, so do the rest. [dead]

Read my post... i say next round will rise, never say about other rounds. Can't I even express my own views about COE trends?

borderline case cos' now with price increase, not many pple would rush into car market... so shd ease the pressure on COE bid next round?

this is really rubbish from subaru or whichever dealer that doesn't reduce the price of its vehicle when the COE drops. Very irritating. Because they stand to pocket the money from whoever buys the car. No the government. So it is not fair across the board.

Mind you a brand new WRX bought in Japan is only SGD$37,000

Of the 2600+ extra bidders, you wonder how many are punters hoping to get a cheap COE after the mini-crash in feb 2nd bidding.

If you analyse the excess bidders for previous rounds, these bidders usually come in after a big dip in COE prices. Are they ADs bidding for a cheap COE for future clients? not for Cat A n B since its non-transferable and require a $10k deposit. Are they punters hoping to catch a $1 COE? I believe so.

Actually, the main thing is that they (eg, subaru) can secure the coe. The other dealers (although mark up/down price in tandem with the coe fluctuations) may not offer the best deal on the other hand, cos' some of them are known to ask for top ups..... in the event that they can't get the cat A/B coe for their clients. [sweatdrop]

Either way, consumer lugi. Its inevitable. At least, there is the PI market to even out the playing field. But, still PIs got some way to go to even out the competition, in terms of credibility..... sighz!

if the economy is contracting further as expected, then the demand market would also fall. it makes no sense to further increase more COEs. rather, by contracting the controlled market, their direct gain is higher COE prices. think of this as 2 parametric curve crisscrossing. also, it will make no sense to increase ERP during the same period as consumers will make plenty of noise.

in the light of GST, most agencies hv held back their increases under instructions fr the top. JTC is one of them and they will do this next year.

no way it can go back to 5 yrs ago standard as car growth rate is at 3% every year

Today ST front pg has mentioned that 3% growth is not going to be sustainable in long term. Hence, we might see either some cut in COE quota as yrs goes by ,or some new technology to control car movement & not so much of car population. By seriously thinking, there will come one day when cars in Singapore are so saturated if 3% growth continued annually. Seriously, how are the cars going to move around smoothly without jams & worst-gridlocks.. So definitely gov going to do something abt either the COE quota or restricted movement of cars using some measures. [lipsrsealed]
