of coz i noe its in built in the car cost, but at least i got it then others who might not have... [:p] $500 is not much but at least use it up.

if its mechanical equipment they should be under warranty and i feel we should argue for the correct unless they have specify like air-con 1yr warranty etc. if they claim as wear and tear, they must give specify reason on how it wear and tear...

To all that have replied me, many thanks.

I went back to the installer to test drive my ride. After explaining to him and test driving, he commented that the brakes were ok and very good. The sound came from elsewhere. I was a bit skeptical at first. I then asked if the sound could have come from my suspension or bushings and the reply was a probable. I then requested to have them clean up and lube my bushings (I keep getting creaking noises esp going up humps and bumps). After the cleaning and lubing, test drove it and the installer came back and said, "Got sound from brakes liao."

They removed the brake pads, sandpapered it, lubed the brake pad holders and test drove again. This time problem solved. He said the (new) brake pads were uneven so he had to sandpaper it to smoothen it. My squeaky stabilizer bushings problem also solved. Many thanks to all that have responded. thumbsup.gif

It is not right for yr mech to said the pad is uneven - he probably did not clean the surface of the pad propely to remove all the preservation coating. The other cleaning/ buffing job that must be carried out is the rotor disc surface to remove grease and machinging metal filings.

Hmmm...learnt something new. What do you mean by preservation coating? Does it really matter a lot? Also, is it an absolute must for new pads to be cleaned properly of all the preservation coating before fixing on the pads?

Ok...the groaning sounds came back again, even after the pads were sandpaper-ed. This time with vibration. The installer test drove and confirmed and it said the cause is the pads and the callipers being in contact with one another. confused.gif He applied this rubber damper thingy on the opposite side of the brake pad (the side facing the outer callipers, not rotors. So far, no sounds and vibrations.
