Genie47 1st Gear June 22, 2007 Author Share June 22, 2007 An update. After the conversion, I have to drive my car to Vicom to have it assessed. After the assessment, LTA was informed how well the installation is. It was OK'd so I receive another letter to go to LTA to change my car to Bifuel vehicle. Stamp and sealed as legal bifuel vehicle in their system. This week, the CNG system delivered a record 270km from 12kg of gas.

Genie47 1st Gear June 22, 2007 Author Share June 22, 2007 It was paid in MYR. After conversion, it is SGD0.35/kg. 12X0.35 = SGD4.20. That's SGD1.50 per 100km traveled.

Verve 1st Gear June 22, 2007 Share June 22, 2007 i suppose at this rate you don t spend more than $50 per month on fuel cos 2000 km per month only equals $30. if everyone were to use my cng it marks the demise of the sg petroleum industry. and of course tax income for the sg govt. over ten years assuming average petrol bill of $250, it means savings of $200 monthly, $2400 per year and 12k in ten years. quite a handsome sum but guess it only applies for those who go to jb often. Genie47 1st Gear June 22, 2007 Author Share June 22, 2007 (edited) I have no choice. There is no freely available CNG station yet in SG. Fortunately I live in Woodlands. Actually I'm not running fully on CNG. Once the CNG runs out, I run on petrol. By the weekend, the petrol hits 3/4 full. I go in fill up on petrol, fill up on CNG. SG CNG is SGD1.05 per kg. Still the savings is substantial. At this rate of 270km/12kg, that will be SGD4.60/100km. Very close to using half JB CNG and petrol. Scoop Neutral Newbie June 29, 2007 Share June 29, 2007 Bro.. where can i find infomation when will the other CNG stations be ready ?
Genie47 1st Gear June 29, 2007 Author Share June 29, 2007 (edited) Melchers will keep you informed if you are converted. Meanwhile, I know all the stations in JB. Edited June 29, 2007 by Genie47
Genie47 1st Gear July 1, 2007 Author Share July 1, 2007 (edited) More info. OK, the system is stabilized. Everytime I fill up, I get 13.4kg of petrol. I get 270km out of this. So if you want real FC figures of km/L, 13.4kg of gas = 13.4*1.496 (figure to convert to L of petrol) = 20L of petrol. 270km/20L = 13.5km/L of petrol. So the performance of my engine is slightly more efficient (thanks to Melcher's programming of the CNG ECU). I do get jerks and hesitation when I floor the pedal. This is from the gas displacing the air. I get 12.5km/L with petrol. I'll keep monitoring. Maybe needs a little more tuning. Permacy Neutral Newbie July 15, 2007 Share July 15, 2007 Wow you really got it done! I am seriously considering this option as well, thanks for the report. I am driving a Toyota picnic, my petrol bill average $400+ per month, I am seriously thinking to install the CNG in my car. I got reply from the CNG company, they mentioned if I can get 5 cars to install can get 10% discount, Please refer below for the details of reply message: Cost of installation is $3400SGD. This includes all the Kit parts and labour and application to LTA for vehicle conversion and a cylinder in the booth for your CNG. The refilling point will be in the front of the car at the bonnet. We place these here for technical reasons and there is no obstruction and it is easy to refill form here. The station attendant will do everything for you in 1.5 mins. Click on this link to view the refill process. It is fast and easy.http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=melcherscngteam If you can confirm a total of 5 cars for conversion ,including yours, we can offer you a 10% discount. There are 2 systems. The mixer system which costs S$2600 and the Sequential system which costs S$3400. The sequential system is the most advanced system brought in form Italy and results in a smooth drive with a minimal power loss of 3% The mixer system is an older system which yields a power loss of about 15%-20% and is suited to carburetted cars and smaller capacity cars.
