Cashgoh 1st Gear March 18, 2008 Share March 18, 2008 Hi there some question about the CNG conversion: 1.Can any car conversion into CNG 2.What the damage to convert
Genie47 1st Gear March 19, 2008 Author Share March 19, 2008 Finally got Song to tune my car to use CNG 100% apart from start up. Now my car idles even on CNG. I got to understand what you mean by the car stalling. Seems like the torque isn't that great for the take off in manual cars. You have to engage your brain to CNG mode. To start off from standstill in CNG is to adopt the drag racer mentality. Revv the car harder than usual until you can hear the audible "vroom" before engaging the clutch. Sometimes forget to engage CNG brain and the car stalls causing many behind me to sound their horns. Found out that traffic jams use up the CNG just as fast as my petrol in traffic jams. With traffic jams everyday, encounter 130km out of the 10kg of CNG. Now I avoid jams completely taking the long way route. More pleasant drive. 10kg brings me 210km. Refill every 2 or 3 days. Luvknowmore Neutral Newbie March 19, 2008 Share March 19, 2008 Hi Genie, How can I know whether mine is tune to idle on CNG or petrol? Is there an indication?
Genie47 1st Gear March 19, 2008 Author Share March 19, 2008 No indication. Why would you want to do that? Petrol is now at 2 bucks a litre for RON92.
Luvknowmore Neutral Newbie March 19, 2008 Share March 19, 2008 I want to make sure mine is running full on CNG, not the other way.
Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie March 19, 2008 Share March 19, 2008 (edited) Refill 2~4 days is correct and yes consumption is ard 220~250 km without aircon and normal driving. Aggresive driving with aircon 180km Max flzz out Gas in 2 days max. My full is 12KG most of the time hit 11.5KG constant in filling up. No doubt very frequent filling up but the amount it reduced cost ... heh heh no compains man. I have kept a database of my consumption. Caculated ard 1500KM of usage ard $110+ so very econ liao lorr ... imagine on petrol base on assumption of petrol 1L=10KM = 150L for 1500KM which is ard $270+ so saving is 1/2 because the price of gas is almost 1/2.... Bottom line is consumption is the same when you use gas or petrol. Just that it is just a differnet nature and storage is a different concept. Enjoy your new settings man. Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie March 20, 2008 Share March 20, 2008 (edited) I thought when you idle on petrol it will blink the G symbol then when you run on gas the G symbol will be lighted stable. Mine is in the morning start up on petrol, the G symbol blinks the when it is warmed up and drive off the G symbol LED is stable green. How does your initial before the change works I am not sure. I assume it will blink the G symbol in idle. Edited March 20, 2008 by Dirtrider_ak

Genie47 1st Gear March 21, 2008 Author Share March 21, 2008 It's hard to see if it is green or amber in the day. Anyway, it was more or less known when I can smell my exhaust fumes when idling in the carpark.
