According to the mechanic.. I need to install cambering nut to balance everything out.. Is it that bad that I need one? Cuz it cost S$130 to do it.. Is the price justified?

I did the wheel alignment at JB for my Proton Wira,I install a set of adjustable camber nut to both side,so in future, the mechanic only need to adjusted the nuts enough,no need those other adjustments.

But these nut are special and cost ard 120rm per set.Actually u can c that the nuts are special, cuase they are adjustable, can c one.

Yo,very seldom pple get a side, usually in a pair.Otherwise yr car serke to one side later, result in uneven alignment.Cause one side is stronger than the other.Cause these nuts damn solid, the mechanic shown to me(shld have taken pics). After installing, next x u go bk to the shop, they would know how to do.

I think it's the same thing we're talking abt?But these nuts get in S'pore quite ex ah.

I dun know how to say lah,it's a long nut and bolts, holding yr car's arms to to wheels. That's y pple say each x u chge tyres, better to do an alignment.

Normal camber nuts cannot be adjusted, the mechanic will have to loosen the whole nut or tighten it altogether.

But these special nuts can be adjusted, cause the ctr part is free moving, very strong, mine pair is gold in colour.

Anybody? If really need one.. Where to get a cheaper one?

====================

If u r toking about a camber bolt which is slightly "oval" that will adjust the camber by just loosening the nut & then turning the bolt, I had 1 put in as recommended by my tyre guy cos the "original" bolt was too small in diameter which might cause the camber to "run" out after some time.

It only cost me about $20-$30 if I'm not wrong. But I still think it's unnecessary unless your camber always runs out of tune.

But as I do trust my tyre guy, I had it installed.

Hmm.. What I know its that the camber nut can actually be 'tuned' or adjeusted type.. Haha..

I'm not sure if we r toking about the same thing but mine is a bolt which has a shaft that is oval & will adjust the camber when it is rotated.

Just need to loosen the nut at the end & rotate the bolt till it's adjusted then tighten back the nut.

At that time I thought it was a lot of money to pay for a stupid bolt. [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

Hope you guys will bear with me, i'm quite lost.

I'm considering getting a set of rims which is 16mm less the offset my car can take.

My mechanic think its ok, just get the wheel alignment done and use, like what you guys mentioned, a camber to compensate for it.

I understand the other stresses, but is he telling the truth?
