Scoots 3rd Gear June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 Wah Piang ... personally, I haven't shifted my car down for washing on Saturday mornings. Reading this piece of info, frankly, isn't gonna affect whether I will want to wash my car on Sat morning or not.... the rationale is too rediculous!!! Typical of civil servants... Answer without using brains and the best answer is the one that 'taxes' them the least
Bearlina Neutral Newbie June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 thats how we live in sillypore.... get 1, give 2 back
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 Thanks for the clarification I believe that this info would be very beneficial to our fellow OPC drivers
Scoots 3rd Gear June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 Hmm.... then should I perofrm my 'social responsibility' and report to LTA that BM did not put a OPC coupon when the service my car? Cos I am very certain that it was not in the same lot when I dropped it off for servicing in the morning!...
Memory Neutral Newbie June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 Bro these are 2 different issues. Raising cost of living is not our choice. Being caught driving OPC without valid coupon is individual choice.

Slowmo Clutched June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 is what you are saying just your own interpretation or is it backed by some rules/statements from the authorities? Because I think the 'every movement of OPC within restricted hours' is kinda extreme. HOw about the following cases: 1. OPC car on tow? 2. Moving of OPC within private/commercial building car park? 3. Moving of OPC at workshops/service center? (hehe... if yes, then BM flout at least 3 times on my car liow .... ) Hi, For #1, #3 Cars on tow, will be using the trade license plate. Which allows unregistered cars to be test driven/towed/moved from point to point. #2 if so happens that a ROV officer is present when you move your car, he CAN book you. I know it sounds stupid, because of the very 'wide' definition of the ruling, OPC cars can't even shift their crooked car straight in their parking lots without a OPC coupon during the peak hours. But it is the 'law'. The law isn't discriminatory when it comes to offenders, although the enforcers will try to be as compassionate as possible. Thats why people can appeal, thats why people can have house arrest instead of sitting in jail. Just my $0.02 *5% GST cents.

Memory Neutral Newbie June 18, 2007 Share June 18, 2007 Let me teach you a way to save monee and not let cheng hu earn extras. Wash your car when it is permitted for OPC driving. Or wash like the carpark Bangla, ie. pail of water + sponge. You can't have the best of both worlds, esp. when rules are set out upfront, unless one can stick to the rule. So instead of going for OPC and still try to eat a bit here and there, it is better to go for normal plate and puts the mind at ease, otherwise forgo driving. Maybe that is the final message. But for #3, it's within BM service center and definitely no such trade license plate used when shifting OPC one. Stretching the point for #2 if I were be living on landed property and the OPC is in my front porch. By that (extreme) ruling, does it mean that I cannot even start the engine and move my car 1cm within my own compound? How about I put the car in free gear and engine off? I totally agree with you last statement about the law and that it's not discriminatory. Sad part is that the people who are in positions to excerise their discretion on the enforcement are not using much of their grey matter. Brings us back to a statement quite about singaporeans I heard quite sometime back (in comparison with Hong Kongers) Hong Kongers will not do what's explicitly not allowed, Singaporeans will only do what's explicitely allowed.
