Slowmo Clutched June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 That's the thing, why bangla can have a licence to wash but not the car owners? Is it because they adhere to the rules and considerate enough not to pour water and soap on the floor? I also agree to your point that OPC owners should tear a coupon if they insist they want to wash car, and not trying to argue on the point that they just drive their car in MSCP or move 1 lot. To be honest, I'm not even sure if the foreign talent is doing something illegal or if some have valid licenses. The only way to know is to contact HDB or complain and see if they actually 'catch' these people. So its not really correct to assume the bangla have the licence to wash. :) In my opinion, its a bit like selling fruits outside MRT stations. I doubt there is license approved for that. But no one makes a big complaint out of it (note - not even MRT staff), everyone gets cheaper fruits?
Slowmo Clutched June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 ROV i'm not too sure, but if you are ever driving around in Jurong, be careful. Over the past week (incld saturdays) I've seen OPC cars being waved over by TP at least 5 times.

Scoots 3rd Gear June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 Think he will just convert his car to OPC then. ps. We are not here to stir up any trouble, please treat us as equal. Alright!!!... I like your last statement!
Slowmo Clutched June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 That's the problem. The definition is LTA's site is for USE of OPC. I USE the car to go around. Washing the car is not a USE. Shifting the car to another lot within the same car park is not a USE. Just as BM moving my (and countless) OPC around during servicing is not a USE. These are not grey areas. It's only that there are people who do not really understand, so for them, the safest is do what is 'explicitly allowed'-> tear the coupon. Its difficult to justify 'sense' and 'law' sometimes, perhaps you could ask someone who is skilled in legal to advise you. To me, moving a car is still 'usage'. According to my layman's definiton from dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=use&x=0&y=0) 20. Law. a. the enjoyment of property, as by the employment, occupation, or exercise of it. Driving the car, is utilisation of the car. Point is, we all can sound 'correct' in our definition of 'use' here. But when slapped with the fines and charges, it's the government that defines the term 'use', and exercises the enforcement accordingly. So frankly, no point arguing. Just my $0.02 incl. 5% GST - subject to increase in 11 days time.

Scoots 3rd Gear June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 There are 27 examples/definitions of the word 'use' there. Am I correct to say that you are saying that the 'use' of our OPC is to be covered by the scope of ALL the definitions or the ones that relate REALLY using/driving only? Just to illustrate: By the definition you have adopted- The enjoyment of the property, as by the employment, occupation, or excercise of it I ENJOY having a OPC...whole day. Does this mean I need to put a OPC coupon EVERY DAY, even if I an not DRIVING it? Let's make it even more interesting. I ENJOY sitting (OCCUPYING space) in my OPC. Do I still need to put a coupon?. USING the car for the purpose of getting yourself (or someone/something else) from 1 location to another is USING it... because it serves the purpose of what it was for, transportation. Yes, no point arguing. The end of the day, it's the government that defines the term 'use'..... last I check, it didn't say I cannot wash my OPC in the multistorey carpark. I am also to understand that car owners are required to wash their cars at the washing bay and not park there overnight..... think I can abide by all those rules. It's also the old that have a difficulty in adapting to change ... like the OPC scheme. Off topic: I not that young either. Slowmo Clutched June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 Bro. Please check section 14© of the following http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10204p.nsf/WP...es?OpenDocument I posted this 2 pages ago. Like i said, read the policies. I'm not here to preach, but do take care in finding things out properly before assuming everything is 'grey' unless explicitly specifed. Sgnick 1st Gear June 19, 2007 Share June 19, 2007 Better still......stick OPC timing purely with Bus lane timings. I dont mind the restriction till 8pm. But then allow OPC to come out during lunch time and afternoon and the whole of Saturday. As long as its outside bus lane peak hour timing, OPC can come out. I 1st to support

Yeah, I can be fined $80 for washing a vehicle in a parking place .... That's what I mean! I am required to wash my car at the washing bay ... what is it that you think I do not understand?
