Noticed when driving on the PIE towards changi airport on those pedestrain overhead bridge.

There are cameras set up at the overhead bridge with umbrella as shields. At first i thought these are speed cameras from afar manned by the TP in white (common nowadays).

Then see civilians standing next to it. This happened 2 days in a row and somemore on 3 bridges (before Bedok exit, after bedok exit and after tampines exit). Is there a special task force sponsored by the TP or are they taking pics to see traffic flow or just for fun? Need enlightenment from bros here

Same here, I just saw it on the PIE. Wondering whether TP outsourced the speed traps to civilians?

I saw these last week at PIE west side. At around Jurong Town Hall exit, the bridges before and after.

Camera mounted on tripods with umbrellas above, correct?

I reckon is for traffic flow survey purposes.

maybe they r trying to copy china lao. China 'hire' or well rather offer rewards to ppl who can help them catch traffic offenders. The scheme is prove to be so good that ppl 'many out of jobs' camp at overhead bridges and happily snap away [sweatdrop]

Yep, I saw them on 2 different bridges after I entered PIE(Changi) from Eunos. Dun looks like TP. Can only see auntie and uncle manning the devices (cameras?). Still got umbrella to shelter the devices one.

Maybe they doing a study of vehicle usage on PIE? So that they can implement ERP on that stretch as well. [laugh][sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

was about to ask the same question too!

i kept seeing these people

i dont tink they are catching speedsters as what i see is just a video camera.

Plus those uncles & aunties were wearing berms and slippers. i dont believe police will outsource to them if they have no proper equipment.

the umbrellas are there with really good use. once it was raining and they really used the umbrellas, one for the video cam the other for themselves.

To me, most prob they are hired to just film the traffic flow for professionals who wan to make documentaries.

I tink they add more stress to driving along the expressway.

Those turning into PIE towards Changi from Upp Paya Lebar Rd may have also seen a young guy armed with a camcorder-like device squatting along the slip road onto PIE almost every morning around 8am. I've observed he's been around there for more than a year already... always wonder what he's doing [:/]

Don't know if it's the same a/h but my pal on bike went to 6c6c and this fella seems abit "off" and apparently does this to boost his sense of importance. He's been doing this for sometime (not sure a year)and works the nite shift guard duty nearby.

As for the cameras with brollies along PIE twds Changi, I have not seen anyone manning them (around 8.30am) but reckon they should be nearby, if not we'll have lots of a/h's squatting around with free cameras :).

Saw 2 of them on a overhead bridge on boundary road around noon today while going for lunch. Was telling my friend to drop me off on the return trip to take a picture of them but they disappeared when we past the point again 40 minutes later. Run away so fast.
