Found out something recently. When cruising along the expressway at around 110, the rpm way hovering at around 2000rpm. However, when I switched to manual, it goes to 7th gear which brought the rpm down to about 1800rpm. I think this would be very good for the FC.

any updates on the FC?

FC is outstanding if you travel a lot on highways and use the manual gear control. In months when I do about 60% on highways, I can get around 7.5l per 100km. That's pretty decent I think.

I believe the price is now 109,888. However, I'm not sure if the specs are the same. I bought the first batch which came with the following:

Ipod interface

17in wheels

roof rack (quite useless for me)

chrome trim

$500 boutique voucher

of course the SE threw in a few other sweeteners.

Just one comment about power. It's funny how we Singaporeans are so power hungry, it's not as if we have much room to push the car. Many europeans go for small engines due to high prices of petrol (right now at around 3.2 S$ per litre).

soon...a few more years singapore petrol wil hit tat price too [bigcry] gahment suck blood [knife]

Actual, i.e. tank to tank. Full tank divide by mileage driven for that tank. I've been monitoring. The time which I travel mostly on trunk roads, it's higher, around 8.5 to 9l per 100km.

B200 is actually a 2.1 litre engine. I'm sure it's more perky than the B170. Other than the engine, the entire car is the same. So you've got to ask yourself if it's worth the extra $$. I think it's a 10k difference for a 400cc diff in displacement. More FC, more road tax. I decided against it. BTW, there is a used B200 at Ubi car mart.

Just sharing my opinion a purchase I made last week.

I was choosing between the VW Golf GT and the B170. They are totally different cars but simliar in price (although B170 has higher list price, the freebies and over trade by C&C more than offsets the differentials).

The Golf GT is a great mighty mouse. What makes this car a GREAT bargain are the following qualities : Unbelievable power from such a small engine, cutting edge technologies, savings you gained from FC/road tax/insurance, and most importantly, the thought that you are doing your bit in saving the world (yeah rite). One thing I felt during the test drive, it always gives you the urge to chiong (accelerate) and gives you the high, makes you want to shout to the car you overtook "1.4 leh", and definitely makes you feel 17 again. [drivingcar]

The B170 is more stylo-milo in my opinion (although from some angle, it still looked like a fancy van). Don't even whisper about "power" when you are driving because there's very little of it. However it is more than sufficient for a zippy and smooth drive around town. Car is spacious and bright compared to the GT and it does gives you that premium, safety-first & intelligent feeling. [gorgeous]

At the end of the day, the 2 car is a classical example of substance verus form, grunt verus moan (this may be a bad analogy).

At the end of the day, I chose the Golf GT but brought the B170. It's for my wife and kids, you see ?

One more thing, and I am not sure if there are grounds for suing C&C (the company, not the SEs). If you notice the Acceleration figures in the specification sheet and C&C website, it stated the 0-100km/hr for the B170 is 11.3 seconds. This is not true based on my research. That figure is for B170 with manual gearboxes. For Autotronics, the version C&C is bringing (and stated on the spec sheet), the right acceleration figure should be 12.0 seconds.

Don't believe me ? checkout this interactive B-Class Manual (an absolutely must-read for people who is considering the car). And you will realized you have been conned too if you have brought a B200. For B200 Turbo owners, you should be happy because your car is actually 0.2 seconds faster than what's advertised.

I wonder if we get the car free if C&C is convicted of false advertising ? Any help from lawyer forumers ? Go buy one before this news gets out.

Disclaimer : The 0.7 seconds difference is not that noticeable unless you or your spouse is that Alonso who complains alot.

Try driving using the 'manual' mode. I'm almost always on that now. It's more responsive and better for FC.

I'm going to get a GTI soon [bounce2] . 2nd car. B170 has always been for the wifey...

It's cheaper cos it's FWD compared to mainstream RWD which is more ex to build with the rear wheel axle and transmission shaft.

The platform I believe is very much base on their van. Cheap...yeah. [laugh]

merc vito van is rwd lei ..

I test drove the B170 and B200 three weeks ago and i do feel that B170 is quieter. Below are my comments:

1. Steering is really light.

2. Interior abit plasticky (personal view).

3. Feel giddy after the test drive. Maybe because the height of the car as compared to my existing ride.

4. CVT roar during initial pick up is loud.

5. Last but not least, CVT gearbox??!! No way.

One good thing is that it is coming from Germany, not South Africa.
