Rusty lug nuts...HELP!

YHI offered to replace my lug nuts...free or not, i dunno. after changing liaoz then see how.

 

i think i am just suay to get a defective batch of nuts. i can make do with normal nuts as long as they dun rust or drop out

Why don't u check with your regular tyre shop. They have tons of them & some r of very good quality.

 

Mine cost only $10 & they r of a very good quality.

hi tks for reply...so those racing aluminum ones that u were talking about, they unscrew easily? since u said need to tighten once a month...

 

Actually they Don't. I modify my car rather often, so i need to take out tyres. But best to check on it every month as advised.

 

IMHO, They only look good. Not much weight you can save. You can however get those steel coloured ones

buy from a shop at AMK, opposite P0h H3ng, 1st shop. but not his fault since the rims and nuts are from YHI..

okie got it...

 

ok so now i know got 3 types of nuts:

 

1) Cast iron

2) Aluminium

3) Steel

 

what are the pros and cons of each? Its damn confusing, and the shop i went to recommend cast iron one...

2 - 3 years??? Those lug nuts can last 20 years even. Maybe wil get a little rusty only but just re-chrome them.

Aluminium nuts are usually Legal, unless they protrude out from your rim. However, they are not legal on the track. If you want looks, go for it. It's easier to add paint to aluminmium nuts.

 

I'm not sure but for Cast Iron, they usually chrome it?

 

For steel, usually they galavanised it? The person told me the paint usually will not stick on Steel nuts (Don't ask me why, sounds like a bluff to me)

Why not. It's just a nut to hold the wheels in place. If they were not abused, the only time they might suffer is when they r removed & put back. More likely for the bolt to snap due to stress.
