Rusty lug nuts...HELP!

my el cheapo taiwan rim ("kyowa racing" from sumwhere called PH) didn't face this problem, so i reckon u shd not.

The chrome on the lug nuts are just too thin and of poor quality. Will peel off in no time

How can that be? Their spanner cannot cause the same kind of rust cause i dont service my car there.

 

Its due to the weather and our wash that cause it to rust. In the first place, it shouldn't rust at all!

 

Go to the shop and get it replace! I went to JT and he replace for me BUT the new set I have in my ride isn't stainless. He claims that it will still rust but slower than the one we had.

 

Irregardless of volks or OZ or even replicas. The workshop have a responsibility to install stainless steel for our lug nuts. Not something that will rust after a few months.

 

FYI... bro i will strongly advice all brothers who purchase their OZ to check on their pillow center inside the rims (center). Mine is 56.1mm which should be 54.1mm.

 

Sigh... luckily an experts in wheel alignment spotted it and kind enough of him to inform me. I went back to JT and told him a week ago. He said I have to wait till next monday then I can change it.

 

Right now im travelling without a pillow center. As I'm not sure whats the impact, i travelling slowly. Maybe some experts can enlight me on this?

sorry to said you got a poor quality nuts form the picture can see.

but wondering did they supply you new nuts?,

understand from source these are all the typical cheapo China product, what to do,every one want to compare $ so compromised on this , these are not original from OZ i am very sure, even you buy from the distributor they also supply similar quality.

anyway you buy rim not nut hahahaa

if you want the better one insist the original Japan one but costly leh ,

or go for those galvanised (look like dead sliver colour) those have less rush problem

as for brother below claim the wrong size centore cone, should as yr shop why did they make such mistake? you won't know the worng size fitted until yr next tyre service.

for i know some just any how install, don't care the size right or wrong, some even don't supply

$$$$$$$$$ is the culprit

so enjoy your shopping and you will find out more what you get fr your dollars when you go to more reputable quality shop

bro, its really very disappointing to see this coming from a reputable shop. Sometimes I do feel that too reputable, which cause a higher demand, the service will be compromise.

My wheel nuts also have similiar rusts as shown in your photos, but mine is just some stock rims which I got 2nd hand a few years ago. The rust is just on the surface, won't deteriorate much for the past few years.

However, since you got yours brand new, should go back to the shop and complain....

A couple of years back I got a set of almost brand new wheel nuts with washers from my tyre shop for abt $10 only (He asked for $20 but I bargained it down ). Till today there is no rust at all as he told me they were of very good quality.

 

Check with your regular tyre shop & see if they have cos many pple trade-in rims & some willing to pay for a new set of nuts at the same time so they keep the old ones to sell.

These are the ones that have rust...what material are these made of? Which material won't rust?

hello everyone, i just changed to new rims 3 weeks ago, and now the lug nuts started to rust. Is that common? Its original OZ racing ultraleggera. What is the material ah?

 

Any idea how to remove the rust and how to prevent them in future?
