New Lancer seemed to have identity crisis...front like Volvo or Galant, rear like Alfa, rear bumper like Mazda 3. It's nice looking but just doesn't have a personality of its own.

Civic on the other hand just looks weird to my taste. The rear a bit timid looking and while the front too gentle looking. For sure it has a personality of its own though.

Neither one I like. This one I like more....[sly]

look the spec:

Lancer 2.0GT vs Civic 2.0SI

155HP/????rpm(or 152HP) vs 155HP/6000rpm

199N.m/????rpm vs 188N.m/4500rpm

????kg vs 1282kg

No reason Lancer 2.0GT'Acceleration is no way near the current FD civic'mah confused.gif

u wanna know why....sly.gif

the GT curb weight is 1.5ton and the laden weight is 1.8 ton..

compare to 1.3 ton.....so which u think has a better power to weight ratio.

150HP/????rpm(or 152HP) vs 155HP/6000rpm

199N.m/4200rpm vs 188N.m/4500rpm

the power band is not as wide as the civic, you can probably feel the pull over a wider RPM range on the civic, but I feel that the GT is loosing breath once it goes above 4500 rpm in 2nd gear onwards.

this is what i observe and feel during my test drive...

and to think the insulation of the car is so bad...cabin is so noisy with engine noise.....wonder where all the weight comes from...maybe the rocksford fosgate...

but still...the noise is very bad, considering it to be marketed to the executive class.

k20 with or without the "a" just generally means the series of the engine. im guessing wht he's tryin to say is that the k-series engine is still superior to the mitsu lancer ex's engine.

don't really have to nitpick on his words to the specifics, after all he's comparing btw 2 saloons.

well said [thumbsup]

I've test driven the Lancer GT(M) too and felt disappointed...really..it wasn't up to my xpectation despite all the hype surrounding it.

Straight-line acceleration vs Civic Si?Lancer can be left behind struggling to keep up with the Civic by more a car length at least..(whether 18-inch heavy wheels play a part?)honestly...the new 4B11 engine of the new Lancer is lethargic and noisy when revved, compared to the sweet-sounding K20A of the Honda. [thumbsup]

To me, worth commending in the Lancer GT wld be it's taut chassis and it's continental handling of the ride.A class act which betters the Civic.K20A is still one of the best 2.0 engine $$ can buy. [thumbsup]

Sorry to all Lancer fans if my review is too straightforward coz u'll get the most truthful reviews in forums without any carrot by the AD! As i initially plan 2 change my current K20A ride to the Lancer 2.0 GT but after test driven it,will re-think whether should I wait for the Ralliart turbo Lancer GT instead. [gossip]

When I've test driven the Lancer 2.0 GT, ther was another customer test-driving it before me and I saw him again at Honda shwroom which he've juz finished test driven the Civic 2.0 Si(M).Had a small chat and he too,was disappointed at the Lancer 2.0 GT lucklustre performance when pitted aganist the Civic Si.

However, price of the Civic Si is well almost 8-10K above the price of the Lancer GT which makes Lancer GT quite value for money buy! [thumbsup]

Actually the Lancer looks nicer than the Civic but performance wise Honda still better in performance based on past history.

I agree...Lancer is much more agressive looking than the Civic FD which looks a bit dated liaoz...time for a facelift for the Civic FD?

Term wat u prefer...to each it's own terms but I prefer to be more exact rite down to the numbers as labelled to the engine.

Misleading?I'm juz re-introducing the different K20A engines.

K20A is just layman terms in describing the engine block layout but to be more in-depth into the K20As...I'd prefer numbers shown together with it. [nod]

CL7A is definately using K20A6 or A3.CL7R on the K20A2 and CL9 on the K24A2!If not,can enlighten me wat engine platform is the CL7A on?

Do a search on SHC to find out more on the K20A...happy reading! [thumbsup]

don't get me wrong. my purpose is not to debate with you what engine is used for which car.

all i am saying is, K20A is the engine with the highest performance in the K20 series, and only used in revered "R" badge cars in the Honda lineup.

the new 4B11 engine of the new Lancer is lethargic and noisy when revved, compared to the sweet-sounding K20A of the Honda.

and when u compared the 4B11 with the K20A, it is not apple to apple at all. K20A3 will be more appropriate.

maybe i'm being anal, but if someone is telling me that they drive a K20A car, its gotta be a Type R or Euro R.

or maybe i just misunderstood your intentions in the first place. you've said it. you prefer to be more exact rite down to the numbers as labelled to the engine. So i guess your engine must have stated K20A without the number suffix behind.

No hard feelings man. [thumbsup] I'm a honda fan too. [flowerface]

Dun worry about it,after all,it's a forum and to each it's own view! [wave]

When I compare the 4B11,the first engine from Honda came to my mind would be either the K20A3(A6) or K20Z which has almost the same output as the 4B11 engine of the Mitsui. As in my review, I did not compare the 4B11 wif the CTR or EuroR coz it would be totally unfair for the Mitsui! [shakehead]

Afterall,we are trying to find out if Mitsui can now stand alongside Honda in their N.A. engine development but it seems Mitsui really needs 2 finetune a bit more 2 reach Honda's standard. [sweatdrop]

The above-mentioned alone justify Honda's pricing aganist Mitsui.

However,in terms of styling,Lancer EX's styling sure looks much more agressive than the FD's styling!

Again,I would like to stress,no hard feelings for all Mitsui fans! [flowerface]

P.S.-I'm no Kah Motor's salesman and I am seriously considering gettin Lancer GT 4 my nxt ride, therfore,I'm just posting how myself individually feel towards the above mentioned two cars! [inlove]

I can't understand why so many people are insteresting on Lancer 2.0L(M)GT instead of Lancer 2.0L(A)GT [hur]

on the other hand Civic 2.0(A)SI has a better sale figure than Civic 2.0(M)SI [;)]

Reason is simple:U dun see much 2.0 litre NA cars wif a manual tranny around for price under S$90K! [thumbsup]

look the spec:

Lancer 2.0GT vs Civic 2.0SI

155HP/6000rpm vs 155HP/6000rpm

199N.m/4250rpm vs 188N.m/4500rpm

1325kg vs 1282kg

No reason Lancer 2.0GT'Acceleration is no way near the current FD civic'mah [confused]

Your missing fields has been updated by me in red!

Lancer GT(M) is 1325kg vs Civic FD2(M)1282kg...almost 50kg heavier due to 18-inch rims and rockford fosgate system?

I found the Lancer's EX GT(M)'s specs and weight from xxxxxxx.com test drive.

Go figure! [hur]

I suspect the rigid body do play a part in increasing the weight...maybe a change to 17 inch and lower the ride makes it look good with better power-to-weight ratio, or u can alternatively, change to Jap forged 18-inch rims! [sly]
