If you happen to live in a country where you are blessed with a Fiat dealership, this might brighten your day. The Sporting arm of the Torino automaker just released a hot new Grande Punto. Joining the already varied lineup is the new Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet Sporting. The badge is wider than the car, but the extra goodies are worth it. What you get by checking the 1.4 T-Jet Sporting box on your order sheet is a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder that puts out 120 hp. Now, that might not seem like a whole lot of ponies in the paddock, but consider that when fitted to the GP, it will return a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 sec and a V-Max of 121 mph. Still not impressed? What if we told you this all comes with incredible economy and ultra-low emissions to boot? Like 42.8 mpg (Imperial) and 155g/km on the CO2 meter. The car is available in either three- or five-door form, with prices starting at

The U.K.reviews have been nothing but good so far which is great. It only come in 5speed and I think the 5 speed box is for performance sake. Hopefully we'll get to see one.

cos the car makers are under pressure from the EU .

they not only produced what the comsumer need.

at the same time must take care of the environment

in other words,

giving better mpg and also emitting less co2.

yup,

if use correctly..

to hit this kind of 0-100 for a na engine, at least a 1.8 or 2.0 is required.

google the net, look at how the golf Gt and the new fiat engines

managed to provide power and good mpg at the same time. [:)]

turbo helps save environment?

can try reading this webby's article:

http://www.visteon.com/utils/whitepapers/2003_32_0039.pdf

and some relevent extracted info from it:

The consequences of global warming have forced the governments of developed economies to impose strict regulations on the emission of so-called "green house gases". Carbon dioxide, a by-product of fossil fuel combustion, is a major contributor to global warming. The focus of government treaties, in the face of continued globalization and third world development, has been to stabilize contribution of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

Downsizing (e.g. Bravo 1.4L engine) is recognized to be one of the most effective ways to reduce CO2 emissions in gasoline passenger cars in everyday use since big improvements in fuel economy are achieved with well-proved technologies, i.e. engine boosting through turbo chargers or mechanical compressors and standard three way catalysts for exhaust gases emission containment.

Through the increase in specific torque output and re-optimisation of the transmission gearing, a 12% improvement in NEDC fuel economy at equal performance level was achieved, with no significant changes to the base engine.

Enjoy reading.......... [flowerface]
