just saw the channel 8 program which covers the recent hougang fire which killed 2 siblings. it seems tat 4 yrs ago (2003) the victims' father had appeared on tv to share about his concern about shop owners placing their goods at the footway obstructing residents and blocking the way in the event of emergency..

 

why is it tat 4 yrs later the issue still not rectify and cause 2 person to get killed in the fire? i wonder wat the town council and the MP had been doing the past 4 years.

I've been complaining to my town council about bikes (lots of them) parking under the void deck just below my baby's room. More thsn a year has passed and nothing is done. As I live on the 2nd floor just above those bikes below, obviously I'm afraid of what might happnened if those bikes caught fire. Till today, the bikes are still below my unit. I'm writing in to the papers soon.

yeah, i caught tat show too... such scenes of shops displaying their stuff on the walkway and beyond is not just limited to tat of this estate but many many others too.

 

take a walk in jurong east, clementi, or even b.batok... can see the same "setup" too.

 

if u can recall the show, a new enforcement plan will commence next month .

 

so sad, i mean this case is just another of one of those many incidents awaiting deaths before some serious actions will take place.

write in to the papers might not work too. it depends on how hard working ur MP and town coucil is. the hougang fire incident they complaint 4 yrs ago(on national tv somemore) until now not solved and things happened.
