Shox87 4th Gear September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 yea. u cant go wrong wif an altis, its no surprise that our local roads are filled wif them.
Bobofish Neutral Newbie September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 Perhaps you may like to consider other models or makes. Bought an Altis in 2005. Within 2 years, 1) Suspension sqeak and got it changed and the new parts squeak again. 2) Steering rattling sound that was never ractified since complaining at 5K servicing 3) Drive shaft had to be replaced. 4) Fogy headlamps during rainy weathers. 5) Finishing inferior compared to other models eg City, Jazz, Latio, Impreza TS, etc... regarding your last point, the city's interior is one of the worst i ever seen, it's so plasticy and cheap looking. (no offence to any city's owners) City's interior although very plasticy but the fitting is done up nicely. For altis one can hear squeeking sound when I pressed it. The only plus point i can remember is the pick up is quite responsive. Perhaps like one of the bros here say, I indeed got a lemon.
Friendstar Supercharged September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 becos our local roads are filled with people like u.
Bobofish Neutral Newbie September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 Agree, try not to U turn fast with Altis. Should reduce speed when driving on curvey roads (eg CTE turning to TPE)
Bobofish Neutral Newbie September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 That was exactly what my brother told me....
Friendstar Supercharged September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://paultan.org/archives/2007/09/12/new...ysians-in-2008/ Altis In malaysia... but pix like from USA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hmm.. this could be the model singapore is getting. it looks rather different from the AXIO..but then again..i read somewhere and they were saying the Toyota Corolla (AXIO) in China will be very similar to the one we are getting here? in terms of looks, that is. But of coz, Made in Thailand. Any comments? This one is launched earliest in China last year when Axio was launched. The body frame like wheel base, width etc is basically the same like the G9, Altis. Engine spec (Axio & China 1.6) looks similar to the G9 / Altis as well. So I consider complete face lift just like the 92 Corolla changed to 95 model. -- That time also look complete changed but body frame and engine remain similar. Of course hopefully we get more perks like both directions steering adjustment, smart key (keyless eng start) etc. Still, is new look, model. I will go for Axio. Oh just for one more important point, the rear seat floor is flat.! http://paultan.org/archives/2007/09/12/new...ysians-in-2008/ ://http://paultan.org/archives/2007/09...ians-in-2008/
Friendstar Supercharged September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 a car like lancer/latio is not meant to carry 7 anyway. i mean its good tat u'r happy with altis carrying 7 but u cant fault lancer/latio becos of tat.
Shox87 4th Gear September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 lol. and wads that supposed to mean? and no, im not an altis owner. im jus being honest bout altis being a reliable for no-fuss cars. if the car isn't good, singaporeans wouldn't buy it. the best package would definitely be cheap and good. Kangz 3rd Gear September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 Honestly bro, I think ppl buy the Altis due to the herd mentality and the power of the Toyota brand than its inherent quality. The power and draw of the Toyota brand is nothing short of amazing, really. But the status the brand has today didn't come about without any real hard work put in by the marketing dept. Ok i know i am digressing..haha Anyway, nothing wrong with buying a car for those reasons of course. But sometimes people do give too much undeserved credit to a popular car =)
Charlieliu Neutral Newbie September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 I test drove many cars in Feb 07 after the COE dip, and still end up buying Altis for a combination of factors. But what pleased me most was that although the COE keep climbing up and up, Borneo did not come up and asked me to top up the price. But I read from MCF that many buyers were faced with the plight. So quality, marketing, performance and seller's trustworthiness are important.
Rncw 5th Gear September 30, 2007 Author Share September 30, 2007 ditto. i was even told by the SE to just go for the classic scheme, as additional of 1k or 2k is not necessary as they can sure deliver and getting coe not a problem. my ride is scheduled to be delivered end oct to nov.
