Weichien Clutched September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 so a na seems to be a better choice with roads like sg. but if long distance (CC) is also very important right? ↡ Advertisement
T3march Neutral Newbie September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 On the other hand.... if your are talking about mod.....Turbo cars have far more potential than NA cars...... Saw a race featured in best motoring with WRXs, EVOs, Type Rs ....with similar Horses...and the type R won ...... reason.....NA have better pick up after each corner...as they are more responsive...while the turbo cars need time to spool up their turbine....known as turbo lags

Nazaki Clutched September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 There's always EK & EG series of Hondas to do that job. Small car, big output..
T3march Neutral Newbie September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 i would say a LPT is ideal for singapore road as it normally cost lesser and its more focus on Low rev or acceleration....just add a boost controller....will easily obtain a few more horses ...making it more fun to drive... Chisiang 2nd Gear September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 Bro, At least you are on the same frequency here which saves a lot of saliva. But hor, my money is still on the Blade Don't forget on paper the hp figures is dynoed at crank. The Blade is FF while the EVO is 4WD. Taking transmission lost @ 15% for FF and 25% for 4WD that's a 10% difference. Ultimately a launch from stationery will see the EVO lead but the Blade will overcome the gab eventually. But we are not talking about a BIG TIME WIN but that's as good as eating liao. EVO lek, cannot win a small car? Just like Orchard Gudang or street challenge, as long as a Civic can keep up with a STi or EVO, it is consider the Civic has won. But it is expected of a EVO or STi to keep up with a Civic
Vratenza Supersonic September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 (edited) "Don't forget on paper the hp figures is dynoed at crank" most of the modded Evos/Rex Dyno figures are at wheel.... "The Blade is FF while the EVO is 4WD. Taking transmission lost @ 15% for FF and 25% for 4WD that's a 10% difference." Strictly speaking...that is drivetrain loss you are talking about.... "Just like Orchard Gudang or street challenge, as long as a Civic can keep up with a STi or EVO, it is consider the Civic has won. But it is expected of a EVO or STi to keep up with a Civic" I think you caught yourself there..... Give you analogy: in a hundred meter sprint....if a woman sprinter can keep up with the male sprinter without widening the gap....you would consider her win liao.....why? because we all recognize that the female is the weaker physical form for such an event.... I'm not here to antagonise you but i find your views pretty narrow viewed...ultimately who cares who eats who.....with mods to the sky limit......the one with the most mollah eats everyone else......bugatti veyron (stock....) I guess you did not come across a situation when an SIR and Rex were pushing each other on the ECP when from the behind comes a murcielago that overtook them effortlessly as if they were road hogging (mind you....they were aready at about 130-140kph......)....laffed myself shitless.... Vtim 3rd Gear September 27, 2007 Share September 27, 2007 Actually, the EVO are marketed with understated specs, here is an independent test done in Europe (remember this is detuned version due to Euro Emission restrictions) power loss to tranny and 4WD is very minimum : http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=233 just ask EVO owners in SG EVO Club and you'll find that the Dyno show more than 280BHP on crank (against the 280BHP stated in the specs) since WHP is already closed to 280BHP liao most Civic are never stock and it also depend on the skills of the driver PG is good for Civic as the track are shorter where as in Sepang, the EVOs and REXes will shine
Chisiang 2nd Gear September 28, 2007 Share September 28, 2007 why do I have the feeling I'm public enemy here anyway... most of the modded Evos/Rex Dyno figures are at wheel.... production model bro. So if your EVOs and REXs are modded the Blade cannot be modded?? We comparing stock to stock leh. Production model hp is crank rated. Strictly speaking...that is drivetrain loss you are talking about.... yep. So what do you think? 10% of 280 is?? 28hp Give you analogy: in a hundred meter sprint....if a woman sprinter can keep up with the male sprinter without widening the gap....you would consider her win liao.....why? because we all recognize that the female is the weaker physical form for such an event.... eh brother, we talking about car vs car and driver's skill is not in the picture mah. If driver is taken into consideration than you can put an ah ma behind the wheel of an EVO and can still lose to a QQ driven by drag pro. And besides, that's sexist discrimination. ultimately who cares who eats who.....with mods to the sky limit......the one with the most mollah eats everyone else......bugatti veyron (stock....) we talking about stock production car again... if mod is taken into consideration then there's no point talking liao 'cos every car can be a EVO eat if you mod by putting in a F1 engine (if that guy got the money to spend why not??) I guess you did not come across a situation when an SIR and Rex were pushing each other on the ECP when from the behind comes a murcielago that overtook them effortlessly as if they were road hogging (mind you....they were aready at about 130-140kph......)....laffed myself ****less.... see! That's the classic example of "There's no replacement for displacement"
Chisiang 2nd Gear September 28, 2007 Share September 28, 2007 it's me the public enemy here again... Actually, the EVO are marketed with understated specs, here is an independent test done in Europe (remember this is detuned version due to Euro Emission restrictions) power loss to tranny and 4WD is very minimum : http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=233 just ask EVO owners in SG EVO Club and you'll find that the Dyno show more than 280BHP on crank (against the 280BHP stated in the specs) since WHP is already closed to 280BHP liao That dyno is from an EVO VIII leh. EVO IX one's here http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=746 Rated @ 256 PS niah... running RON 99. However I must admit I was quite impressed by the amount of drive train lost considering the power has to be transmitted to 3 differentials with a variable torque distribution some more. I beg to differ if you state a stock EVO can make 280 BHP on wheel. Either the dyno is faulty of there's some manipulation. The rated 280 PS is done in a much cooler climate than in Singapore and in Japan they did it with RON 100. Here we get max RON98 and our weather sux big time. So even taking drivetrain/transmission lost at 9%, you will get 254 PS at the MOST and that is provide if you would have done the dyno in Japan under the same climate and using the same fuel! As for mods and driver skills, please see my previous reply about stock car vs stock car not considering mods and driver's skill. Who's next? Keep it coming guys! Vratenza Supersonic September 28, 2007 Share September 28, 2007 (edited) Of course production model...so let's talk about stock for stock.... As posted by some other bros....Evos tend to have underated factory BHP/Torque figures...well recognized fact....read all the UK/US Evo forums...dyno at wheels (mind you) yield >280BHP.....not one will tell you otherwise. your statement about the civics being able to keep up with an evo considered win liao gives away the fact that civics are recognized to be of sub par status to evo/rex...thus if they are able to keep up...means either they mod like crazy or the evo/rex driver skill like crap.... what is sexist about stating the fact....male and female are built differently....each body form for different purpose. It just so happen that competitive sports favours the male bodyform in most events...... And I am not talking about driving skill here..... anyway, seem like you are very focused on straigthline drag.....should I even mention about the supposedly drivetrain lost that you have been talking about for the 4WD...is not actually "lost"? AWD, s-AWC , AYC...all this gives the car "god-like" handling round corners and bends..... with a 3.5L very heavy large capacity engine up front...dunnoe how is the handling? Shine Clutched September 30, 2007 Share September 30, 2007 (edited) Bro, EVO lek, cannot win a small car? Just like Orchard Gudang or street challenge, as long as a Civic can keep up with a STi or EVO, it is consider the Civic has won. But it is expected of a EVO or STi to keep up with a Civic Dear Chisiang, You seem to have a fixation on "small cars" outgunning the EVO / STI. Till the Toyota Blade lands in Spore and someone actually buys one, I guess we EVO owners can still rest in peace. However, at 3.5 litres, I dont see how the Blade would equate to a "small car". Unless of course you are talking abt the Souped up Civic EGs and EKs from the yesteryears being the "small cars" who thrives on glory upon outgunning an Evo / Sti. And if that was your point for this whole argument, do allow me to ask you one question: 1) When the dust has settled and all is clear (regardless who has won), would you PREFER to OWN the EVO or the souped up COE CIVIC if you could afford the former? :) Edited September 30, 2007 by Shine ↡ Advertisement
