AS far as TTS is concerned as long as the car leaves the showroom everything is wear and tear.

No doubt the FIAT is a fairly reliable car compared to Jap cars the aftersales of the agent is worse then Jap dealers.

Having the same problem with my Fiat GP Selespeed gearbox. Registered July 2007. I recently bought it in June and is under 1 yr warranty with Khangs Automatic.

Right now, I having a problem during start-up of the engine. When I just start the engine and move off, it will drag the first gear and not switch to second gear. If i attempt to switch it up to 2nd gear manually, the alarm will start sounding and the car will swich to neutral. The message "Gear Unavailable, Check Transmission" will also flash out.

I have sent it to Khang's once to check but as this happens occassionally, the car was returned to me without having the problem solved.

Wondering if any more of you guys have the same problem.

What's your current mileage? Better go for a check up at Alfa City, Alfa Sportivo or iEnergy.

You may read up more at sgfiat . com forum too.

I reckon it is most likely issue with your Selespeed Electrical Pump. I'm sure you have a Selespeed Reservoir. This is what i suggest you do for first diagnostics:

1. Early morning prior to starting the car, check your Selespeed Oil Level at your reservoir

2. First, open the passenger side door to access the Bonnet Lever (Because, when you open your driver side door, the Selespeed Pump will activate and pressurise the whole system)

If you notice that you have low or very low Selespeed Oil in the reservoir, the possibility is very high that your Selespeed Electrical Pump has reached the end of life. The oil seal in the pump is leaking oil and replacement of the whole pump is required. Alternatively, try topping up the Selespeed Oil and drive a few days, it could be as simple as low on oil.

If your Selespeed Oil is sufficient, then most likely could be the Solenoid that is acting up. Estimated cost of replacement is about $400. My advise, go to AD or workshop that has Examiner. This examiner will be able to pick up the error because Fiat/Alfa ECU has the capabilities of logging errors for future diagnosis via Examiner.

Hope it helps.
