Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Share November 2, 2007 Just wanna share my DIY experience on my TB on Tue just by following some DIYs posted on other country car forums. 1. My setup before removing the filter and pipe 2. After removing the open pod and pipe and heatshield 3. Next is to remove the 2 x connectors, 2 x coolant hose with a plyer to loosen to hose clip, 3 rubber air hose on top ans lastly the 4 bolts. ↡ Advertisement
Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 Next is to give theTB a good knock with the back of a screw driver. It might help if you warm it up a little but remember to connect bace your coolant hoses. (That's what happen to blur me!! Coolant keep pouring out ) Inner diammeter is 65mm (sorry for lousy hp camera pics, my digi cam lend to friend).
Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 The tools that i used for my DIY project. Drill with round sanding paper (60mm and 45-50mm in diammeter) Rotary tool aka Dremel with round sanding disc and grinding stone. Sand paper grits 600 and 1200. Metal polisher. Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 Plaing and securing the TB on the bench with clamps (bought from Carrefour, sorry no pic), i have used the drill with the 60 mm sanding disc to sand widen tthe inner TB.
Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 I have use the smaller 40mm sanding disc to widen the samller diameter on both the inwards side and outwards side of the TB. Sometimes using the dremel as it got more pinpointed sshaving power. But the little disc wears ou very fast.. Think i used 6 pieces liao.
Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 Intially i wanted to remove the shaft so as to totally give it a good thining (thin) of the shaft but i got problems reming the screws holding onto the butterfly. I tried 3 scewdrivers but it seems that the screws are giving way(head going to gone caase liaoz) and it's freaking tight!! So i try my best to sand down the end of the screws and the shaft to as close to the both ends with the dremel. And i sand down abit on the butterfly giving it a slight knidge edge on the leading end and exit end. (read this on an old post in MCF, got diagram last time but now gone http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...0edging;#518165 )

Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 After all the hardwork and i would like to thank my mom for holding the umbrella (it was raining cat and dogs just after Tue Midnight, as i needed to use my car the next morning) I manage to shave or about 1.5mm on bothe the intake and outwards of the TB. After installing back the TB, the idling RPM hover at 1200 - 1400. I was pondering whether to reset my ecu by removing the fuse/batt cable but the hastle of waiting for it to correct itself stop me from doing it.. So i decided to reduce to air by using my SAFC. It helps alittle. There was a very slight improvment of respond on the throttle. I felt i didn't really do a good job. Maybe would like to look a removing the shaft and totally flatten the shaft (sanding down the screw heads) and widening more of the outwards of the TB. Hope those DIY guys would find this useful. You can DIY to clean the TB and and you can see the rpm idling at higher point due to the remove of the black gooey stuffs... Aprreciate some comments constructive comments if possble. Thanks for viewing and happy driving
Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 (edited) Ensure ah? Well i use the big disc and give it a good over round/circular sanding. the dremels helps to do pipoint shaving. Mostly by feel if you ask me. You can actually see it by the grooves/lines casused be the sanding. If there are uneven surface. it does did feel bumpy at one side for my TB. So i keep going at the particular spot. Defelio Neutral Newbie November 2, 2007 Author Share November 2, 2007 Hmmm, i try searching online for safc tuning guides but mainly all are for turbos cars.. Basically you need a a air/fuel ratio gauge. As most jap cars are adjusted more to the rich side/running richer. You need to reduce the mixture so that the AF is hovering between lean - stoich at individual rpm level.. Which is quite hard to do without a lamba sensor a laptop for you to monitor the mixture at all the rpm. I very cheapo de la, Just a few months back i copy over my friend's(i ask him permission if he minds or not) one as he had went to a guy to do on road tuning. Guess quite a handful of people would know who bah. Well mine was more or less similar to his. Copying it doens't mean gurantee better perfomance. safc also not much to gain from it. If want dyno tuning, think the cheapest i know is in JB. Dyno, then tune and finally dyno again.

I know of some car have this problem after bore by inexperience workshop ↡ Advertisement
