Help .. kena kiss G9 backside ..

just kissed the backside of a corolla G9 ..

happened while we were filtering out to marine parade flyover from ECP changi ..

was checking my own blind spot before moving out and bang .. sway ..

 

just wanna check if anyone had changed a G9 rear bumber before and what's the cost ?

 

the G9 wanted to send his car to his own workshop for repair ... just wanna get a rough idea of how much it will cost so that i can decide whether to ask him claim insurance or settle out of my own pocket ..

 

anyway .. my current NCD is only 10% with AIG ..

depends on wat he is claiming. bumper ard $100+ but spray say another $150. if tailgate kena.. lagi more. but knowing unscrupulous workshop, they will ask close to $500 which is ur excess. so force u pay tat price so ur excess will b affected.

 

but since ur NCB is 10%, u decide.

do your part and go with the owner to his workshop. With him ard, the workshop will not try to ask the owner to go insurance claim.

 

 

pay for the repair cost + some extra money to the owner for the inconvenience caused.

 

But work out your 10% NCD as well.

from our own assesment of damage on site .. its appears to be only the bumper ..

 

so as an estimate .. all in all its around $400 realistically if private settle ?

 

if kena insurance claim .. will i just lose the 10% NCD or 10% NCD plus increase in premium ?

well .. if forsaking my 10% NCD is less than $500 (which is the max i am prepared to pay) .. does it mean that asking him to claim my insurance is more worthwhile ?

if you are willing to settle for 400, go for it before he goes workshop. Coz the amount could be more than that.

 

Frankly, the surface damage could be a just a few chip off and scratch marks but the rear reinforcement bar could be bend.

 

Thus settle now and sign paper on agreement.

 

Start on a comfortable amt and neg from there. The best is ask him to take money and live with it.

Sad to say, when it comes to insurance claims, the chances of getting a bill of $400 from the other party is like 1 in 1000. Becos the workshop will then claim damages for rear bumper beam, clip, sticker, bootlid, exhaust etc ... all these add up to mininum $800 & this is from a "FRIENDLY" workshop.

 

If he goes to a "BLACK" worksahop, lagi worse ... the repair costs will shoot up to $2-3K.

 

Moreover, the other guy will claim for Loss of Use or rental car. Worse still if they use lawyer to claim.

 

Hence, my advice is to go with him to his workshop & pay the bill + sign black-and-white to close off the case. At least there is a high chance to "contain" the bill less than $1,000.

tried to negotiate for an early settlement of $400, he wanted to settle at his workshop tomorrow saying his mechanic say its just a few hundred dollar job .. ask me not to worry ..

bro, excess comes into play when i am claiming for my own damage rite ??

my premium will increase just from the loss of my NCD rite ?

does the principal sum increase as well ?

yea .. gonna settle with him at his workshop tomorrow .. but still the max i willing to pay out of my own pocket is $500 .. anything more will ask him to claim my insurance liao .. hopefully its sufficient for his repair la ..

he assured that his workshop is not "or tiam" as all his cars were sent to this workshop and they informed would be only a "few hundred dollar job" .. keeping my fingers crossed ..

not really black shop but when it come to insurance claim, they charge by man hour, thus the bill is higher than usual. Guess it's the way those insurance company do things that workshop have to do itemised billing
