Larrysoon Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 Meet at MAC to sign paper sounds like insurance company liao.... i was thinking is it big AD is absording the COE because their cars are sellable so absording COE is not a problem for them. When the price is went up next round they can still this the COE they get this round.
Larrysoon Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 Still going but can see the speed of increasing not that fast liao: Bidding status as at 05/12/2007 10:56:31.53 hrs Category Current COE Price ($) Quota Bids Received A Car (1600cc & below) &Taxi 1 2,174 607 B Car (Above 1600 cc) 1 1,163 322 C Goods Vehicle & Bus 1 347 147 D Motorcycle 1 454 179 E Open 1 1,088
Nus24 Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 Yes...most AD has this $4000 buffer which I call COE Bonus. Absorbing COE? well like I say the selling price is already includive of the average COE price, so there is no way for a AD to so call adsorbe COE and make zero profits. When they sell you the car at a price, they already factor in this additional price in the car package. Meaning they can bid up to as much as $4k higher than the last COE price and yet still maintain their intended profit for the car.(This is very obvious for KM pricing)
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear December 5, 2007 Author Share December 5, 2007 haha, it is cheap compare to 1-2 months back but it is high compare to other make like Altis
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear December 5, 2007 Author Share December 5, 2007 This COE thing is like US stock market. Up or down....no one knows except the big players. Like for the past weeks in US... One day say sub prime is no longer a problem. Next day say, banks facing hugh sub prime write off. Following day says black friday sales shows economy is still rosy. Another day says, people are cutting back on hign end goods for christmas. etc..etc..... In Singapore, you can say go show room no crowd. But Invisible crowds will somehow sustain the COE level. Maybe many deals are closed by SE calling the boderline buyers on the phone and meet them at Macs to sign the docs? Some even offer to fetch you to sign on the dotted line
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear December 5, 2007 Author Share December 5, 2007 haha, I think more bids coming in after 2-3pm: Bidding status as at 05/12/2007 11:12:52.99 hrs Category Current COE Price ($) Quota Bids Received A Car (1600cc & below) &Taxi 1 2,174 617 B Car (Above 1600 cc) 1 1,163 328 C Goods Vehicle & Bus 1 347 148 D Motorcycle 1 454 179 E Open 1 1,088
Walterkoh Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 well, sometimes its not true for some ADs, cos their brand not so well accepted by singaporeans to place their cars at a higher price to have this so called buffer. like can u expect to sell a chery qq at $39,499 instead of $34,499 to have a 5k buffer? no one will even walk into their showroom!!! usually its cars like audi, bmw, merc, jaguar etc, their margin is at least 25k for their cheapest models, n sometimes up to 80-100k for their top of the range models!!! yet people still willingly pay for them, but a customer will try to squeeze for a $200 discount when buying a chery qq :) cheers

Hogster Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 (edited) Yip, but what the heck, like then just buy. Are you getting the Stream? I was tempted to but didn't need such a big car so decide to just stick to the 1.6. Same goes for the 2.0 Civic as well.
