Use to enjoy eating them when they first appear in the Singapore back in the early 1980s. After hearing all the stories on all the fighting going between the goverment forces and Tamil Tigers, I decided to call it a day . Mud crabs breed best in mud/ swampy lands,such places also act as filters to the sea and rivers where all the rubbishs and dead animals are trapped and they make very good food for crabs, crocodiles, etc etc

Is it true that they really eat dead people's meat to get so big ah?

 

most crustaceans are bottom feeders and scavengers...

Not sure if you called the shop that I went to cos their crab are huge $25/kg.

 

I am eyeing the lobster $50/kg... next time if I go will buy and try...steam with butter...yummy.

was walking pass, saw they were selling fresh crabs..big ones too..

 

But not sure if they are Sri Lanka...

 

are they still there? thought that place had be redeveloped.

demand fr crabs dipped quite a bit after the tsuinami.

i pass there last month also, seen construction works carrying out.

Senang Crescent , their huge ones are about $26/kg . You get get Hairy Crab from them at about 10/pce.

The is a crab shop at Blk 148 Potong Pasir Ave1.

 

I just had dinner over the wknd and happend to pass by a shop that says that on its sign board but the shop is closed so can't confirm if got your kind of crab. However looking at the shop sign board, it does look like a wholeseller just like my fav egg wholeseller in Bedok near Blk 85.
