Metalslug Neutral Newbie January 10, 2008 Share January 10, 2008 why is it i dont hear many people Exporting or scrapping 2nd hand OPC? is it true that OPC hard to breakeven? ↡ Advertisement
Verve 1st Gear January 10, 2008 Share January 10, 2008 because the older opc of 04 - 05, after taking away the extremely low paper rebate, almost no value already - cos that time coe high my friend's 04 getz bought opc at 48k, now wanna sell less than 15k - existing loan amount 35k - scrap now means he lose at least 33k over 3 years for a opc! - depreciation of a bmw. Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 33k for 3 years? That is worst than normal car
Toyo 1st Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 For his case, car cannot scrap or sell. only way is to keep it I wonder how long more he will need in order to breakeven on his loan.
Zippaboy 4th Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 48k ? $48k + $17K = $65k i don't remember Getz being so expensive leh. well his own fault for taking a huge loan and long loan period.
Toyo 1st Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 Getz was launched in 2003, my friend was one of the owner of the pioneer batch. He paid $67K plus
Walterkoh Neutral Newbie January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 hi, i dun think a new bmw bought in '04 will only have a depreciation of 11k per year, it should b much higher :)

Toyo 1st Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 not likely to be 1.1M as it was not available in 2004. most likely is 1.4A and the current OPC price is $30-32K
Libox88 Neutral Newbie January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 (edited) Just a OPC costs 48k, wah your friend really kana trapped big time Edited January 11, 2008 by Libox88
Coltplussport Turbocharged January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 Rubbish lah, just add the pro rate of 7 years of rebate on COE, that is 7/10*17000=11900. At most dealer willing to trade it for 15K+12K=27K. You still loss something like 65K-27K=38K over 3 years of normal usuage. So, don't even think of scrapping your car in 3 years especially if the brand does not fetch good value in resale market.
Zanter 3rd Gear January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 Lesson no 1: Dont kan cheong spider buy new model. Lesson no 2: Dont buy new model esp from Hyundai Lesson no 3: Dont buy new model OPC esp from Hyundai! Leason no 4 :If you forget leasons 1-3, dont take out 10 year loans, esp cash rebates etc. Aiyah just dont buy Hyundai!
Libox88 Neutral Newbie January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 Wah why you so prejudice against Hyundai lei ! I almost booked a Getz 1.1M but eventually decide to get a Kenari due to the space. Some may think I am wrong but I feel much more comfortable in a Kenari than a Getz.
Coltplussport Turbocharged January 11, 2008 Share January 11, 2008 If you drive for 10 years before scrapping the car, any brand will do. But when resale in around 3 years, those jap brand will get better value. But-ter, whatever brand it is, the depreciation at the 3rd year will be a killer.
