Wind30 Turbocharged February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 (edited) kind of curious, did the ARF drop cause a drop in car prices as compared to let's say January prices? (inclusive of whatever promotions, etc) I followed nissan prices closely as I signed up for a sylphy and I did not see any drop. How about other makes like honda and toyota? Honda also like never drop if I see the Honda thread in this forum. Edited February 21, 2008 by Wind30 ↡ Advertisement

Thermodynamics Neutral Newbie February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 Not so simple. Price affected by demand - together with COE. You will not see Toyota & Honda lowering prices if suckers keep flocking to buy their cars.
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 ARF only cut from next month. Only this weekend we wil know. But Cat B COE up $2.3K while Cat A up $854. So the nett from ARF cut is not obvious.
Tanjkp Clutched February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 Yes, the price suppose to be lower. But COE may go up to off set the savings ! The savings from the ARF is ard $1K + in Gen unless if for high end.
Rickster 5th Gear February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 Actually the 10% ARF reduction will not have much of an impact on Cat A cars generally. Thus, the car dealers will all act blur and continue to sell cars at the same price before the drop. Basically, consumers in SG are always the suckers. The garment & dealers will be the winners
Rickster 5th Gear February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 There might not even be any more futher discounts. Why? Becos many car dealers are already offering "discounts" for ARF reduction in their prices since last week.
Rickster 5th Gear February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 Even for a 40+K OMV luxury car that can easily cost in the range of >150K, there is only a slight diff of 4+K. So the diff amount is still considered to be negligible.
Jeffang Neutral Newbie February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 (edited) if you buy a 500k or 1m car then you will see the diff... for nomral cat A car i don't think much diff at all! so those who wanna buy big big car.. they will wait.. sure drop for them... Leepee 1st Gear February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 (edited) As of now, the car price are not transparent. The profit margins are all jumble up in the final package price. No one can really be sure whether the ARF10% cut is in the new car price or not. They can say "they already give 10% discount, but since COE is trending upwards, the car price has incorporate the higher COE risk into the new price". In the end LPPL, no one the wiser. Car buyers are taken for a ride all the time! Edited February 21, 2008 by Leepee
