I thought the k&N box wrote cleaning is done as according to your agent specification. My service manual wrote every 10k so I clean every 10k.

hmm... u can go to the K&N website to check out the information... but apparently... in US, it is measured in miles..and on their website it says "Lasts up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is required"... however, i guess it depends on your driving conditions (if you drive more in Malaysia or dusty roads). Well..i guess cleaning every 10K is alright... better to be safe than sorry right...

I think they also said that cleaning is not required until you see that it is very dirty and the oil is no more there...

but i think i will also clean around 10,000km...if the filter is really dirty lor...

how long have u been using K&N Chris80? and wat car?

i believed its not necessary to clean every 10K. even stock paper filter can last 20-30K before replacement

oh Toyo..not sure if you know this...the stock paper filter...they will take it out to blow off the dust and leaves from the paper filter during every 10K servicing... this is their "cleaning"...

yeap... replacement of stock paper filter is 20-30K...

i will see how my filter is after the 10K...and see if need to clean or not... [;)][thumbsup] if not then 20K..or see how.. [laugh]

usually use running tap water follow by degreaser and repeat..

Driftqueen? [:p] any relationship to driftking?

anyways..yup.. that's the instructions for the cleaning of K&N...

water away the dirt... use the cleaning solution by K&N...spray on ..then water down again..then dry... then apply oil...

the detailed instructions found in the box...also on their website...

Actually I started using it when I got my ride. So not very sure if there is any improvement in FC after changing to K&N.

Yup, my FC average about 17++km/litre.

Shampoo is ok because it already good at removing oil (recall head & shoulders ad)....soap or detergent is too strong...

Anyway anyone knows how to maintain a Simota filter....I was told they need to be oiled as well.
