Hello guys!

Considering btw either these 2 as a new phone. Need to change as my current phone really dying.

I will go for the 6500 for the looks

But my friend tells me to go for the 6121 cause of its S60 platform and i can get it for 0 dollar, including upgrade.

Whereas the 6500 i need to pay 168

Price aside, which one is a better deal ?

Hope i can get some constructive answers coming up... =]

Cheerios!

Why Nokia?? I am using K800i before changing to N82.. Of course 2 different catagories.. 3G vs 3.5G.. But I would prefer SE phone.. The only complain i have is k800i navigation button.. Dammed stupid design.. Otherwise, i felt it is better than Nokia phone..

Sony Ericsson K630i, Sony Ericsson T250i are some $0 upgrade/new line..

6120 is a mini E51... very similar but slightly stripdown specs. and short battery life.

6500 is an upgraded 6300. ... ie on S40 platform.

but if the camera is important to you, 6500's is definitely better - carl zeiss lens + 3.2mp

whereas 6120/E51 only comes with 2mp nokia lens.

Try Sony Ericsson. 95% of my colleagues who switched said they will not go back to Nokia. They felt that SE phones' user interface is cleverer. Many people stick to Nokia because of familiarity and refusal to change.

Just like switching from Windows to OS X ... once you switch, you'd feel Windows is rather stupid.

if you can wait a while, new C series and G series of SE phones are coming. Most SE phones come with standard 1GB or 2GB memory card, whereas Nokia is more stingy giving only 512MB card standard.

The only thing is, SE phones' LCD colour quality is only 242k whereas new Nokias are already on 16m.

one more consideration

True Number portabililty will start soon and the telcos will have promo to keep/attract customers.

If can wait or buy a phone w/o contract would be better.

If you are not switching telco, then no need to consider this.

S60 is more expandable... can multi task

S40 is old ... more like windows 3.11 ... cannot multi task, and cannot support new apps like Yahoo Go, Google2Go or Gmail, etc....

but older platform is faster and not memory hungry.

I'm using 6120. Upgraded from 6233. I've been using nokia hp all the while. I prefer the looks of 6120, plus its lighter n slimmer than 6233.

For me, I only do phone calls n sms on my phone. Occasionally use the camera only. So any phone will do for me as long as its looks appeal to me. [laugh]

Neutral Newbie

Well, I have just gotten myself a 6120 2 days ago. Preferred GUI and buttons of Nokia, as opposed to SE.. Simply can't get use to the back and cancel function buttons of SE models.

Anyway, so far, these are my findings:

Pros:

=====

Nice screen - 16m colors, good resolutions.

Good old nokia GUI - makes the switch from my previous nokia a breeze.

Battery life is quite ok. 2 days since my first charging with normal usage, still showing 75%.

Numpad buttons are big enough and easy to press. One of the most important factor for me as I sms a lot.

Full of "smart" features, like the ability to read MS Word, PDF, powerpoint slides, etc. Quite useful if you need to read some office documents while on the move.

Camera comes with a very bright flash. Useful for taking photos in the dark.

Cons:

=====

Navi-button is a real pain. Hard to press, and not sensitive. Hated the stupid design.

Only 2mp camera.

Comes with only a 256 memory card. Can be easily upgraded though.

Overall, quite happy with the phone so far. User-friendliness is a main factor to me, and despite what SE users have been saying, I still preferred the Nokia GUI. While the phone can be better by improving the navi-keys and numpad sensitivity, I have seen designs that are a lot worse. So overall, will consider it quite a good phone, especially for the price range.

i'm using 6500 slide.. silver.. i got this phone mainly due to its looks.. camera and music is great! only problem is i cant use video calls and the reception is not good..

quite heavy too due to its metal body.. the black version just spoils the outlook of the original phone..

not really worth but its worth it if u like the outlook.. [thumbsup]

Thanks guys for your valuable input!

I have myself got a 6500 Slide.

Cause my K800 was lying around and since I am signing on a student plan to supplement my already quite hiong M1 line, so ohwell, as a 2nd phone, i went for looks.

So got myself a 6500.

Topped up only 18 bucks for it. after trade in of a k800.

I ditched the k800 cause i know i will be abit confused using 2 phones at the same time, but with different interfaces.

So thus, i got a nokia. If not, i would have stayed with the k800i. =]

Thanks guys
