Snokey 1st Gear August 24, 2010 Share August 24, 2010 Just test drive the car the other day, aircon is cold leh! when you get your car? I just booked this car, any review? i got it like 3 weeks back. the aircon is cold la but not as cold as i expected, last time i rented vios, i think the second setting already quite cold liao. the mazda 2 sedan on hot days really need to set to coldest one leh, makes me wonder if the aircon is spoilt or something, makes it less fuel efficient as well ma. i'm first time owner so i don't really know how to review. somemore new car so never really rev hard. only complaint now is the aircon, haha

The air-con suffices for me though...

It's normal to experience power loss as the car gets older.. this is due to internal parts of the engine becoming worn out and thus generating less energy in terms of engine power.. You could try some aftermarket air filters..I find it helps alot as the stock paper one really restricts air intake for the M2..for me personally, my M2 has a better engine response with a hurricane drop in stainless steel filter.. you might want to try that too.. Hope this helps! Can't really think of anything that can help restore the power which is non-technical intensive :P

Usually, 4-year-old car (~80,000 km), if properly maintained/driven, should still feel as good as new. Try changing the engine oil to 5W-30, any decent brand other than Shell (Shell Helix Ultra from the Service Centre really sucks - made my car feel extremely sluggish) and replace your old spark plugs as well. Last time my ex Mz3 was super sluggish after 60,000km service. After changing engine oil (5W-30 mobil1) and plugs (denso iridium), the constipated feeling simply disappeared. It is normal if your car is used for low rpm, start-stop driving over short distances. I usually use a fuel with a high additive package once a month. Also make sure the mech checks the spark-plugs during servicing.

If it feels more sluggish after servicing, it could be because your older oil sheered down to a thinner viscosity. Your car should feel smoother though.
