Arthur C. Clarke, Premier Science Fiction Writer, Dies at 90

Arthur C. Clarke, a writer whose seamless blend of scientific expertise and poetic imagination helped usher in the space age, died early Wednesday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he had lived since 1956. He was 90.

 

Rohan de Silva, an aide to Mr. Clarke, said the author died after experiencing breathing problems, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Clarke had post-polio syndrome for the last two decades and used a wheelchair.

Sir Arthur will be sadly missed. I still remember at one time I tried to invite him personally as keynote speaker for a non-profit disability event by email, and he actually personally took the pain to reply to me (a nobody). I was quite touched. However, at that time he was already not feeling well. A true gentleman.

Sad, one of the few writers who wrote fiction that has might actually come true. Satellite, water as fuel..etc..

Love the 'Rendezvous with Rama' so much that I named all by working PC, as Rama I, II,III.. People thought I was indian..
