Ncss Clutched April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 Hi I am also looking for banks that could offer FD near 3% for 12mths term but to no avail. Anybody could advice any finanical instrument that could offer that rate? With Guaranttee return. NTUC thrift offer quite high FD... but you must be a union member. http://www.ntucthrift.com.sg/
Will_I_Am 2nd Gear April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 You may also consider USD denominated notes for long term investment, with the current weak USD. Returns can go up to 20% or more when the USD strengthened again. Not for the faint hearted though

Alechi 2nd Gear April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 No gd rates with FDs liao. I just finished my homework on this. FDs, forget about it. Apparently, banks have what you call stepped up accounts offering between 1.2 - 1.5% per annum. The pros is you can withdraw money anytime. Cons is that you got to put in a sum of $$ every month. Citibank has one, but takes up to 1 yr to get to 1.2%. POSB has one called MySavingsAccount. If you have more than $10K at hand, just humpthump $1.5K per month into that account and you'll get guaranteed 1.5% monthly. If u fail to humpthump that amt any month, interest will drop to 0.45%. But the next month if u resume, interest fly back to 1.5% To help forgetful ppl like myself (sometimes), the deduction can be done from any DBS or POSB account automatically every month. So far best around time. HiAnyone from the banking sector can advise me which bank gives the hightest interst rate for FD or nearing promotion for FD. Patwong 3rd Gear April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 Hi Neutrino Thanks for the reminder to all forumers. Money put in FD is meant for short term emergency usage. Loss of job, medical issue..etc. I believe most people have set aside money for some form of investments that could be for growth purpose and could be better than the 4~5% inflation.
