Lukesky Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 hi yeshe The china website that u said sells at $40 something, is that in USD or SGD? If SGD i'm definitely interested.. might wana supplement my current cctv system. I found a couple of websites selling $40 something USD, but the shipping is nearly $20 USD, which makes it around $80 something SGD.. might as well buy from the $99 guy with 6 mths warranty.. Lukesky Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 there hard disk based cctv recorders being sold in sim lim tower for $200+, might as well use that instead of building up the mini-PC yourself rite? Plus that cctv recorder can support 4 channels somemore..so can wire up 4 cams in yr car.. Only thing is this method cannot used when yr car is parked for long periods of time..since HD based recorders consume a lot of power..

Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 Ya, true. Importantly, I need night vision camera also which can be used for recording clear picture during the night. I have acquire shops in Sim Lim Tower, camera cost is $95 with night vision, DVR cost is around $350 and it claims consume less battery power from your car battery. There are few shops selling in Sim Lim Square which are specialized in surveillance camera and pricing around there too. Just don't know which will be better? Conservative Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 Tried before, To me, its like an old generation 15fps handphone camera with a stand. In fact any phone with at least 30fps captures much better video. Of course, night videos are pretty bad. Problem is, you also have to activate it before driving, and switch it off when you stop the engine, and then remove it from sight when you leave your vehicle, and install it again when you drive. $40 maybe can consider la. Just sharing, dun mean to harm anyone's business.

Yeshe Turbocharged April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 Something interesting to ponder over http://www.diylife.com/2007/09/13/make-you...illance-system/ this one is more for security as in car theft. In SG, we are more concern with vandalism, which no in-car security can safely provide help at the moment.
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 Guys, I have check with that camera supplier which selling the above camera for only $99. However, I am looking at another camera with IR which is night vision capable, it is selling at $169 with lithium ion battery and you can connect to USB for charging. I will be checking out with the supplier either tomorrow or Friday, if the night vision camera works well, I will get the night vision one instead. Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 23, 2008 Share April 23, 2008 I did not ask in detail but it is IR Camera, you can charge up the lithium battery built-in and the shape is similar to the $99 version, no mounting stand though. It is not meant to be used in the car so only provide with USB Cable but that is easy as I can modified to plug into car battery source.
