Sfhuang Clutched June 17, 2008 Share June 17, 2008 Will footage caught on the car camera be useful for road junction accident claims? Can any bro advise? Reason I'm asking is it seems that most (if not all) road junction accident claims will end up to be 50-50 liability if there are no witnesses or no traffic junction cameras. I find this practice in Singapore damn stupid and ridiculous, and if installing a car cam will help prove the circumstances when such accidents do happen - touch wood - I will definitely buy one for my car. ↡ Advertisement

Zion41 Neutral Newbie June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 I want to install car camera but car still under warranty. Checked with SE and he told me there isn't an official / authorized installed for these equipments. As for the warranty, it is valid as long as the installation does not corrupt the vehicle ECM (pretty grey area) . Could any bros with video camera installed comment is the addition will / could impact the ECM?? Your comments / feedback greatly appreciated. Parkingidiot 1st Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 I think the basic concept of capturing video for protection in insurance claims for accidents is not complicated. To kickoff, get one of those handphone holders with suction cup - sold at Mustaffa and some mobile shops for $12-20, and mount on windscreen to hold cam. Next: 1. Mount your existing video cam/handphone cam/digital cam and switch on when driving. 2. At the end of trip, if nothing worthwhile recorded - just delete the clip or rewind the tape, and remove camera. (If something worthwhile happen - copy the video to PC harddisk) Next trip, repeat steps 1-2. Each trip within Singapore max 1.5-2hrs - should be ok for most of above types of camera to capture without issue. This is what I am doing with my own DV cam - so it does not collect dust at home - and also capture some lovely footage of other idiot drivers. If you want security cam with 24 hour monitoring, etc - then it becomes expensive and complicated.
Leepee 1st Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 There is one very important thing to note. From my personal experience. Its best if the camera is still able to record after a slight accident, and the camera position is still unchanged. Most HP holders are not 'firm' enough to hold the camera, especially in the split second when you do emergency braking and collision. The video recording view might stop or be shifted at the exact point where accident is about to happen. The image capture might then not be too useful. Amazon777 3rd Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 (edited) Their package and installation prices are very expensive so I just bought the Camera from him, if you meet up with him, he will demo the cybercam system to you and he have 2 camera, 1 small and 1 big and both are IR capable. Hi carlover76 this is my new setup just replace my old incar cam with new one :) May I know what's the damage for the DVR & 0 Lux cam altogether, how much does the installation cost? Believe you must have set it up as motion detected recording. Edited June 19, 2008 by Amazon777
Parkingidiot 1st Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 i agree about this. That's why after trying out several different types of holders, I found the one with the suction cup so far the most firm and stable. It lies on the dashboard, and fixed to the windscreen by a strong suction. So far so good - no jerk whn braking. But do not know how it will function in an accident - cross fingers and touch wood - hope this does not happen! I do not want to find out the hard way! But so far I guess this is better than having no camera.
Achtung 6th Gear January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 What's up with the multiple postings? U hv something against this compNy? The in-car camera from www. emergency.sg (Fort digital) has a time lapse of 12-15 seconds between 2-min clips in its cycle recording. And more seriously, it may not start recording when you start your car. I was recently involved in an accident. Unfortunately, the camera did not record anything. Later, I noticed that the camera sometimes was not in the recording mode when car was started. You have to

Fondue Neutral Newbie July 30, 2011 Share July 30, 2011 (edited) Those with Androit phones can try this freeware : DailyRoad Voyager. Low cost solution till you are ready to invest in a heavyweight system. Features : 1. It records in short clips of 1 to 2 minutes. 2. Just set the amount on memoryand it'll override the old files. 3. You can mark certain clips to be preserved. 4. Can run in the background without affecting normal phone operation.
