Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 Guys, I have check out the IR Camera and it is the same as the one selling at Innotec, they have the Car DVR and IR Camera too. IR Camera can do recording onto SD card but only in black and white, no colour except normal mode. Internal lithium battery not sure can last how long and there is no option like the Car DVR to be connected to LCD Screen for viewing purpose. Only comes with a clip and USB Cable and it is slightly smaller and slimmer than Car DVR but the IR black and white mode and the no option to connect to LCD screen makes me think twice before buying. Anyone has better option for the Car Camera? ↡ Advertisement
Leepee 1st Gear April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 If you have installed super duper window film that cut down 99% on UV and IR, then you better do a test-check first whether the camera can capture clearly thru the glass at night or not.
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 No lah, my film not able to cut down 99% on UV and IR, think only around 60 - 80% so should not be a problem.
Leepee 1st Gear April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 If the camera emits IR to illuminate the surroundings, then the solar film may likely reduce the effective IR passing thru both ways.
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 25, 2008 Share April 25, 2008 Oh, you mean it is best to get camera without IR still the best?
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 26, 2008 Share April 26, 2008 Guys, I check out Sim Lim Square again today and found another shop selling the Taiwan Made DVR at $350, below are the functions : 1) Running on either AA size battery or 5V power supply, you will need a covertor from 12V to 5V to be used in car. 2) Motion Detection capable 3) Playback and Recording functions 4) Able to connect to DVD HU for display 5) IR Capable in black & white only The shop owner told me that if it is running on normal battery, it can only last 6 hours and the IR Camera cost around $65. Total Damage = $415 Or do you think buying from the Continental shop in Sim Lim Tower is better? Price of DVR = $360 Price of IR Camera = $95 Not sure which is better though as the owner from Sim Lim Tower claims that his DVR has low battery consumption and battery will not go flat the next morning with recording overnight. Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 27, 2008 Share April 27, 2008 The Taiwan Made DVR I was mentioning on my above posting is the same as the one selling at Prestige Security and it is called the CyberCam. Specs of CyberCam is : http://www.prestige-security.com.sg/cybercam.htm Guess this Cyber Cam is still better than the one selling at Continental in Sim Lim Tower as it has motion detection. Most probably I will get this Cybercam and look for CCD Camera instead of IR Camera.

Carlover76 Neutral Newbie April 30, 2008 Share April 30, 2008 Guys, just to update that I have bought the CCD Camera and CyberCam DVR from Continental, total damage is $450 and I have ask my workshop to do installation for me, another $130 for workmanship and AV Input switch box to switch image between my Digital Tuner and Image from Camera. My workshop has also made a switch for me for both connection from the Camera and DVR from the main battery power source to prevent battery flat if park the car for 2 days and above. From the owner of the Continental shop, he told me that the car battery will not be flat if only continuous recording for a day.
