Jimmyl Neutral Newbie June 11, 2003 Author Share June 11, 2003 Hyundai says continue and drive some more to see if gets warm. Bubbles is suppose to be there as it will be difficult for the gas to flow without air-gaps. (from Hyundai) Outside mechanic says to flush whole air con system. Costs $55. Is that expensive? Comments? Thanks ↡ Advertisement

Jimmyl Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Author Share June 13, 2003 Thanks. By the way, what do I need the "air con refrigeration compressor lubricants"? Normally only top up gas. Thanks
Rdtws Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Share June 13, 2003 The lubricant is just like your engine oil, it lubricant your air con compressor. Since top up gas R134a is about $18, go for this lubricant+gas = $18+4%GST. Karen Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Share June 13, 2003 (edited) [reply]My car is only over 1 year old. (Hyundai Accent) Cold scale from 1 to 10(coldest) Stock (Cold 8) added Super fuelmax. (cold 8) (day 1) Then COOL grounded my car, more powerful and the aircon colder. (cold 9)(day 2) added K & N filter (cold 9) (day5) change original Champion plugs to NGK (cold 9) (day 10) added STP Complete fuel system cleaner, the silver color one on a half tank of shell 98 and top-up full (cold 9) (day 15) day 18 - cold 7 - got some wet, moist smell now improvement mileage and still got half tank with STP. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ hi jimmy i think you air con is "icying" and the drain pipe maybe jammed. for the icying you will need to replace the a/c temostat, replace a/c filter. for drain pipe you just need to remove and flush it clean with water. for the a/c temostat go claim from tomato. for flushing you can DIY a bit and for the a/c filter it is up to you as it will cost you around 90+-...... i hope my 0.2 cent here can help in some way.... cheers karen Edited June 13, 2003 by Karen

Jimmyl Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Author Share June 13, 2003 Many thanks to all. I am a bit impatient. I could not sleep well with this "problem" on my car. Just went to car mechanic and do chemical wash plus top up - $55. Expensive? Aircon is now colder. But on hindsight, if really gas leaking, then LPPL. Karen Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Share June 13, 2003 HE HE HE i can understand how you feel.... well you can try it out for a few days and see how..... if ok then you can leave ot alone....if not then you have to sent it back to tomato cheers karen
Jimmyl Neutral Newbie June 13, 2003 Author Share June 13, 2003 Actually, the Komoco guys agreed to check at next servicing. I thought possible to be gas leak or dirty so might as well try to troubleshoot 2 possible causes at the same time. Any idea how long it takes for me to KNOW leaking or not. 500KM? 1000KM? I seldom drive, so distance better guage than time for me.

Thumb Neutral Newbie August 17, 2005 Share August 17, 2005 My car is only over 1 year old. (Hyundai Accent) Cold scale from 1 to 10(coldest) Stock (Cold 8) added Super fuelmax. (cold 8) (day 1) Then COOL grounded my car, more powerful and the aircon colder. I park in sheltered car park all the time. Any experts care to diagnose what is causing this downgrade of the aircon? Is it permanet? What can I do to improve it? Thanks a million. Hi Jimmy, I'm also driving an Accent 1.5yr old. As for the aircon, the unit is still strong after 1.5 years. I change my front grill to wire mesh type, hence more air-flow and cooling to radiator. Usually never less than 11o'clock position on the thermoset dial, and max fan speed is 2. Anything more than that is too cold. As for the smell, it is fungus growth on your air con filter. As you know, Singapore is hot and humid. We often get into the car, start the aircon immediately, and when we stop the car, the aircon is still on. Hence the cool air is trap in the aircon duct. This will cause condensation as the air heats up. The moisture will deposit in your aircon filter and mould will start to grow. Take out your filter and you should see a number of mushroom growing... Change your filter to aftermarket ones, only cost you $28.

Jimmyl Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Author Share August 18, 2005 I am surprised you answered my 2 years old query. Anyway, I have added some buddyclub aircon additive and modded the aircon to have no hot air. Now aircon dial mostly on rightmost and fan on 1 for myself, fan on 2 for front passengers and 3 for rear passengers. My model does not comes with the aircon filter so till this day I cannot find it. I know the description; "below the glove compartment near the centre console", still cannot find. Any photos appreciate.

Hyun Neutral Newbie August 21, 2005 Share August 21, 2005 while on the topic of aircon, wonder if someone who knows the physics behind aircon can comment on this: aircon piping has a high pressure pipe (which heats up) and a low pressure pipe (which feels cold, has water condensate droplets). i'd like to get the aircon colder. do you think it makes sense to do thermal insulation of the low pressure pipe? this is because my low pressure pipe is not insulated and sits in the hot engine compartment full of hot air. the gist of the question is: does the aircon coldness depend on the final temperature of the low-pressure pipe, or is independent of this value? physical laws say that the aircon's effect comes from the contents of the high pressure pipe dropping in pressure as it flows out into the low pressure pipe. PV/T boyles law. so using insulation on the low pressure pipe keeps the pipe colder, and makes the aircon work more efficiently?
Vtim 3rd Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 My 03 Focus also do not come with Aircon filter for internal circulation, though it comes with pollen filters for external circulations. You can try to located the Aircon intake for the Compressor, normally behind the glove compartment, and DIY a filter (I used 3M Filtrete) to cover it. Here's the link to my DIY Aircon Filter: http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...t=353627#353627 ↡ Advertisement
