as per poll, which would you go for?

personally i find the torsion beam setup, ie, found in most 1.5, 1.6 cars here lacking in comfort

example, having first hand experience driving and as a rear passenger:

- the FD civic is barely making it (in terms of comfort and NVH)

- the altis and wish, i'm surprised at the level of (or lack of) refinement

anything below dont even need to mention

- camry and cefiro being a comparison, the sonata fairs surprisingly well [thumbsup]

The FD civic are on multi link suspension for the rear, right? confused.gif

I think the benefit for torsion beam is its a cheaper option (something like drum brakes vs disc brakes for rear wheels) and less space required for such set up. The disadvantage is not as refine system as multi-link.

I think Lancer GLX one of the most economical (cheapest tongue.gif) car to have multi-link suspension at the rear? sly.gif Another I can think of is Kia Cerato. wink.gif

Whatever ppl tell u here, u won't be convinced anyway. Cos if u know how between the two are constructed u definitely won't be asking such a question.

Just look at those top range cars. See if u can find one with a rear torsion beam setup. Enough said.

It's apparent ppl dunno what's going on and dunno how to compare.

The Odyssey it has multi-link or double wishbone front and rear. Yes the ride is comfy and such but during cornering it has quite a lot of body roll. Cos the damper and spring set up is bias towards comfort.(My dad's car so I know)

My FD the stock damper and spring setup is on the stiffer side. Bumpy ride and noise is there couldn't deny it but it corners better with much less body roll compared to the Ody.

There's always a compromise. If u want comfort, u sacrifice handling. Vise versa for handling. Different cars have a different setup. But one thing for sure is that torsion beam setup is the cheaper option and often found in small/budget cars.
