Went to see and test drive this car over the weekwend. Now need some feedback from bro here who is driving on the following:

1) noise

2) FC

3) servicing at STS

4) ride/handling - eg. no powered, bouncy etc

5) overall quality

This is 1 of the model we are shortlisting for a 7 seater (only those with rear aircon vent on the roof, not those on the centre console).

Terios air-con i think not powerful enough. There is some discussions in terios club.

Consider proton exora 1.6A?air-con vent on ceilng of second & third row.Meet ur requirement.

T7 air con is pretty ok. In fact the rear air con vents on the roof is damn powerful and cold.

It's the T5 and Rush that has weak air con. Night driving is ok, day driving under hot sun have to turn up fan power to 2.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Regarding the aircon, my wife sat on the 3rd row during the test drive with fan power at 1 and is cooling enough. The whole package from STS is very good though the car has certain shortcoming.

I will be testing the Proton Exora this wkend.

Nowadays manufacturers produce small cc cars with bigger HP and torque. Its seem some peeps still think big body small cc drink a lot of fuel but it not always the case. Some engine are tweaked by the manufacturers to reduce sluggish and improve a bit of FC.

Hi bro, I shall the questions that u pm me here.

Having owned the T7 for a year I find that it is a pretty decent ride.

1) Noise, bearable. Compared to my Latio I feel it is the same.

2) FC about 11km/L. Best FC I returned is 12.8km/L on 60/40 (Normal Road/Highway). Travelled on the NSHighway and I got a FC of 15km/L with speed up to 120km/h. Ride is stable through the NSHighway due to the heavy weight of the car.

3) Servicing at STS is ok, pricewise. However, service can be improved.

4) The ride is bouncy due to the soft suspension that most Japanese cars have. Power wise not a problem. Full load with 7 people and luggage went up on Sheares Bridge. Power came in at about 3.5k rpm. Rolling around the corner is well contained considering the height of the vehicle.

5) Overall quality is ok thought it's hard plastics all round.

I have no qualms owning the T7. It suits my needs and budget and the height of the vehicle really makes driving a breeze. No more grazing of the front and rear bumpers on the kerbs. I have seen the Exora before during the road show at Suntec. Exora beats T7 hands down in terms of boot space and the rear headrests for the 3rd row. The price of Exora is about $67000 as seen on sgcarmart vs T7's price of about $73000. However, bear in mind that the Exora's OMV is about $14k while T7's is about $20k. Go, test drive both cars and see what suits u best. Happy car hunting! [flowerface]

Hi Coolpica,

Thanks for the detail feedback. Just a couple more questions,

1)I find the 2nd row seats only can sit 2 adults comfortablely. What's the feedback when share by 3 adults?

2)Another thing is can the DVD touch screen use to play movies? So if you put To R gear, does the movie stop to show the rear camera view?

3) What petrol are you using Ron92 or 95?

Thanks.

I think this is due to the narrowness of the car width.

Shorter width can squeeze 3 adults whereas longer width can seat 3 adults more comfortabely.

Terios 7,old wish & stream width is at 1695mm.

New wish is at 1730mm.

Exora is at 1809mm.

carens is at 1820mm.

For 2nd row it really depends on the size of the passengers. If three men with height 1.75m and 80kg, then I think it'll be squeezy. I can't answer the DVD question as I took the original headunit given instead of the Kenwood DVD player. From what I understand the screen also double up as a reverse camera. As for fuel, RON92 is perfectly ok as T7 requires RON90 fuel only. Normally I pump RON92. Hope these help.

Do take note that the Terios 7 comes in manual too. It'll be more fuel economical, cheaper to buy and more power as compared to the auto version. [flowerface]

2nd row as in middle row? Can sit 3 adults, but of course not big size ones. If smaller size can squeeze 4.

DVD touch screen, depends on how it's wired and if you have a reverse camera. Typically, if the player can play movies, usually the AD will wire it such that on the move, it cannot play. Only in P then can play movies. This is a safety required by LTA. Go to a accessories installers for a workaound. For reverse cam, as long as it's connected to the DVD screen via rear camera input and the power is tapped to the reverse light, it should display rear view but the movie is still playing, ie, you will hear the movie sound.

Pertol...anything above RON91 will do.

Third row got spare tire and height to protect. At least better than any mpv in terms of third row safety. My concern is it might be too bouncy .. been on a display model and can felt the whole body row while trying to get to third row...and im only 70kg.

Checked last week - Exora price is $58K w/o leather....$67K is the list price before discount and overtrade....

Not sure abt their OMV though... [rolleyes]

Thanks to all the bro who help answered my questions. Can use RON92 is definitely a cost saver as petrol price has gone up again.[shakehead] Like I mentioned earlier, the entire package given by STS is v attractive but I was not too impressed by the 2nd (middle) row space and boot space. I need the space to put a pram and my wife suggest putting in the middle row with 1 seat folded and lifted up. Let see how Exora will fare this wkend.

If I am not wrong, proton cars need 97ron (though my company Waja is running on 95ron without problem so far) and I am quite sure Exora FC would not be good since its only 1.6 (even its 125bhp) and need to carry such big body..... [sweatdrop]

Unless the price difference is big enough to compensate the petrol bill [:p]

Overtrade is something like a discount if you do not have a car to trade in.... [dizzy]

Think now with KM also bring in Freed from Indon, maybe you can have an open mind but just watch the coming COE as its likely to go higher down the road..... [sweatdrop]

Oh I see... think 6 yrs ago I took up this option to get my 1st car too [laugh].

We have seen the Freed from PI a while back and felt it is small inside but the deal breaker is no rear aircon. Unless the KM one from Indo has then we might consider. With KM thai made model losing out to BM, this one should win Daihatsu. STS marketing CMI [shakehead]. Just surprise they still can keep the distributorship for so long [confused]

Actually the price difference between RON92 and RON95 is about $2 per full tank, or rather 5 cents per litre. The fuel light comes on after using about 42L, so that's about $2.10 difference. If one full tank can last you a week, then it's $10 savings a month nia...
