My heart saddens when somebody forwarded me the open verdict made by a certain State Coroner Victor Yeo Khee Eng.

A TOP civil servant whose car hit a Victoria School student along Marine Parade Road in October last year was yesterday cleared of criminal negligence in the fatal accident.

State Coroner Victor Yeo came round to this view following testimony by several witnesses at the inquiry into the death of Secondary 4 student Wrixon Chew Teck Cheng, 16, who died six days after the accident.

The driver of the car was Ms Chin Li Fen, 48, an Assistant Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras)

My bad. I should've checked. We'll let the moderators decide whether to move this post to the other thread or whatever.

These are good, contrasting cases. Blogger should have written to ST forum, and let the relevant authorities explain the difference... other than the obvious that we can apparently deduce [sly]

Those in control and power are exactly the same as what is in your avatar. Big pieces of it may I add.

And I would really like to have the pleasure of shooting all if I ever have the chance

this is just a coroner's inquiry, to determine the cause of death.

the hearing for the charges under RTA will probably be later.

Send a protest note to the new A-G office. I know it may not help, but at least put it on record, someone did protested against the judgement.

u need to compare apple to apple. a CI is separate from proceedings under RTA / hearings to determine damages.

the scotts road case you mentioned covers the RTA portion - the woman driver in this case was also not held criminally liable, ie, she was not charged under the penal code (the scotts road CI was probably not covered in the news).

for mati cases, the CI will be normally heard first, then followed by court case covering the RTA offences. After the RTA court case for the school boy is over, there is nothing to stop the school boy's family from pursuing compensation like the scotts road case.

dun be too emotional and think everything is abt elites vs peasants.
