must compare apple to apple mah... not fair to compar agps to gps. agps incur gprs cost while gps do not. if you were to be overseas, you wouldnt want to use agps

opps, i read wrongly.... the gps for N82 is abit off sometimes when traveling on the road. I havent tried using Nokia Map so i cannot say about nokia map. but when using Garmin with malsingmap, there will more errors than my nuvi200... somemore when using garmin mobile, there will be lag when too many poi announcment.

If he want to use the map overseas and furthermore is urgent, he should buy a standalone to save the trouble of subscripting to the subcription for nokia map or to figure out how to install garmin on N82

Nokia map re route is faster, cos the map look like kartoon,as compare to garmin maps.

As for msm,as the version gets higher, more pois and file is bigger thus the lag.

Garmin europe map is expensive...unless he know where to find.

As for N82,free maps is available using maploader,so if urgent ,can straight away d/l the europe maps. I believe there's 3 - 6 mths free usage using Nokia maps

My N82 was bought about 1month ago... There is a so called free 3 month usage, but when registered, I only received 3 days... So I am not sure whether it can really be used for 3 months. Europe Map should be able to find it in the web.

Not worth to buy a hp which you intend to use as a gps when it can only be used for at most 3months then you will have to pay $100 per year unless you know how to install garmin mobile XT.

A standalone GPS can cost as cheap as $200 now if you know where to buy. HP battery life when using GPS is really terrible.

In Europe, when traveling can last for a few hours, the phone might not last for so last unless always plugged into the 12V power.

Nokia did screw up about this...3 mth become 3 days, some get 6 mth [dizzy]

I manage to use it for 3 mth, after tat can't navigate. Subscription is sexpensive [shakehead]

Yup u need a car charger as it drain battery quite fast. But i dont use it quite often actually, only not so familiar places like geylang [:p]

Thus sold my nuvi,if not become white elephant [laugh]

I still use my Nuvi because didnt get a charger and stand for my N82. Still feels more comfortable with Nuvi haha cause you can view the map faster and other things also because of the touch screen.

My Nuvi 200 bought from US, damn cheap, about $210 so I dun think I will sell it because of my N82

Ok, personal user of the N95 8GB, GPS is free for any nokia phone i.e. you can activate GPS signal and search for your places; but, you need to pay for voice navigation. Didn't tell me that did they?

Not so bad right? Wrong. What use is a GPS device if it dosen't have voice navigation or routing? So my opinion would be to get a stand-alone GPS device i.e. Garmin, TomTom etc.

oh boy ... now i am confused 1 billion times more

i thot the other bros were talking about having to pay after whatever 3 months or 6 months or 3 days of usage

now you are saying you can use it for free ??

oh yah ... and i agree with you ... damn the manufacturer

why can't they jus package the voice prompt s/w and make us pay more as a total package instead of sending you running over the whole of stinkapore searching for it

nevertheless ... thanks for your suggestions !!
