i've heard of other fones which can do that ..... the bottom line is not whether or not are you able to show scenery..i believe u can also achieve that with either 1 or 2 cams built in. I'm coming from the intention of having video calls where both party can see each other..

I think if Singtel sells at $600, and you wanna buy from Singtel without contract by topping up $1500, they also wont sell you. No need to dream of pay a bit more. But you can buy it from someone who signs the contract, but doesnt want the phone. Then pay someone to hack it, so u can use your own sim card.

there are lots of 3rd party vendors coming up with innovative add ons for iphones.

for the video call function, how about switching on the bluetooth, sync with a bluetooth webcam and use it to make video calls? just like how you would use your bluetooth headset.

a basic iOne+ contract for singtel cost $25 per month. multiply by 24 months, it cost $600.

the phone, if sold for US$199 (S$298) with the contract, would cost a total of S$898... +7% GST ... will be S$960.

This is still some $138 cheaper than HTC Touch Diamond, if you dont use the contract you paid for at all.

I thinking of getting the white colour one. Like it cos it's really slim.

I dun really need those funtions, so doesn't really affect me tat much. [:p]

Though it look slim...cross section its actually look like this >> )

I went to the apple website to check out on the specs, thickness is 12.3mm, considered quite slim already.

Yes... thats if it is iOne. Usually Singtel advertise their price with 2year iTwo and above contract. For anything less, need to add about $120 or $150. Cant remember.

By the way, HTC diamond at Singtel now is $98 with trade in($200 i think, mabbe $250) and 2 year itwo above contract. Saw it at PC show.

For the time being, buying the new 3G iPhone without contract is not possible...

I'm getting my supplier to bring mi one.

My name is blacklisted in singtel for something I never did... [furious]

I dunno. I foresee a lot of legal issues in the future over iphone. Now ppl can go lucky plaza and buy a hacked iPhone, and nobody cares coz it doesnt affect their business. After Singtel brings in the iPhone, do you think they will sit ard while lucky plaza sells iPhone that can be used on M1 and Starhub?

Able to buy a hacked iPhone from lucky plaza was a mistake made by steve.

Obviously he din foresee that pple are buying his iphones fr states and bringing it back to their own country to sell.

The moment he realised that he improve the set by adding "hack-proof" which din work either.

Right now even in states old iPhone is out of stock. I believe getting the new 3G iphone is not as easy as b4. Surely more security feature anti-hack is built in the phone.

Well, if Singtel really wan to control its iphone selling to only its customer they need tonns of money to do the control.

When the old iPhone came out. It only took a 17 yr old teenager in state 1 week to hackit.... [:|]

Good idea [thumbsup] ... but i'll stick with my E90 for now .. One thing for sure is that once the iphone has a 2nd cam for video call, i'm definitely gonna be a convert as i've always liked apple stuff ..

Nokia's been really disappointing [thumbsdown]

wow! That's cheap. Considering their Touch Cruise were never this cheap. I think HTC is really trying to fend off people from buying iPhone.

Like i said, everyone is just waiting for Apple to showhand before launching their latest flagship handset.

HTC Diamond costs over $1k, while iPhone should be less than $500~

Don't think the features in Diamond is worth tat much

I think many people misinterpreted the price, but some may be aware of it already. When they say the iphone is USD199, it means USD199 with a 2 year contract. iPhones will not and cannot be sold legally without a contract. Therefore, those who wants the iPhone needs to be a Singtel customer(if not already 1).

The Diamond is $1098 as retail price. With a 2 year contract, it will be cheaper by.... i dunno, mabbe $598. I tried my friend's iPhone, and I have to say that the touch screen is by far the best among all others' I have tried(HTC,LG,Dopod,O2, etc). The iPhone definitely have a better build(hardware), but in terms of software..... It certainly lacks the features. Which is why I am in a dilemma between buying the 2. I know there are many 3rd party apps out there which can overcome these shortcomings, but why must apple be so anal to make consumer go the extra mile just to make it normal?

In the end, the beauty of it has overcomed my concerns of its lacking in functionality and features. I went down to singtel to make my reservations. [laugh]

You gotta take a look at the latest TouchFLO 3D on the Diamond. It is way much better as compared to the 1G TouchFLO. Definitely comparable to the i-phone if not better. Apple has never been strong on the hardware side. Their hardware components are never the best of its genre. It has always been ahead because of its innovation in IT, but unfortunately this time it has taken too long and rivals have caught up with them.

Anyway the lack of features is the thing that is attractive. It is the best thing that can happen for open-source supporters. That's something that the Windows-based HTC cannot match up with.
